I wasn't insulted, rather bemused instead that two people would weigh in on a ruleset without actually, you know, seeing the rules. It was especially odd when one of you (Remus) had actually *played* in the game I was basing on in question.

Just wanted to bump this and get in line.
If I understand the current order, we have
Scoop's WW "Simple Rules"
Lassr's BSG - Escape From Caprica
Grundbegriff's Gallow's
I'd like to get at the end of the line and give hosting a shot.
Right now it's called "WoT - The Third Age" giving me plenty of room for sequels, prequels, and fan fiction if the group likes it.
Hopefully no one hates the series so much as to avoid the game entirely.
I've got a pretty good idea about the rules and hooks I'd like to use and will be putting up some stuff for discussion soon in a separate thread (that will go dormant once we have the rule set finalized until it's my turn to batter up). Please give it a look-see and let me know what you think!

Well, I'll try not to spoil too much for you then.Austin wrote:Cool, I just finished Book 1 and started book 2 this week.

The Game won't actually take place during the story in the books and you won't have to know anything about them to play. I've already got some of the Role PM's kind of half written and I explain quite a bit about a person's motivation in them, so hopefully everyone can have fun.

Do we have to tug our braids a lot to play, because I don't have hair.

You know, I've found those complaints to be exaggerated. I mean the braid thing seems to be limited to Nineveh at this point I think I've seen a couple Aes Sedai smooth some skirts, but not much else. I suppose there are probably other threads for such discussion though.Remus West wrote:Do we have to tug our braids a lot to play, because I don't have hair.![]()

I'd probably start playing more than one game. Better to start 1 game when the other is on day 3 or 4 though so you have more people "out" of one game etc...Chaosraven wrote:Or people willing to multitaskAustin wrote:We need faster games.

I've actually wanted to run a game, but would need assistance, since I never ran one. I have an idea and characters, basic outline, but need help fleshing things out. Any volunteers?

Well, you are welcome to steal my rulez format and then make changes as you see necessary. Chaos was a great help to me when I put together my first game. I bet Grund would be pretty helpful as well.
Of course, you can send me your stuff and I will tell you what I think.
I am very interested in seeing what you put together!!

Let me add BSG IV to the waiting list (gives me time to add some new twists).
For those that missed it, BSG III was at Gaming Trends.

I think we should add some smaller games to run at the same time. That way the folks who can handle two games can play and nobody is left out of games they want to play in. What do people think? Maybe some smaller experimental types?

I really don't want to step on anyone's toes (or game!) but I'd be willing to try it at least, especially since I'm having trouble getting it off the ground at Qt3. I suppose we could put a hold on things if it was too distracting to the main WW game.Chaosraven wrote:Honestly I think triggercuts game of 13 would be a good one to do concurrently.Austin wrote:I think we should add some smaller games to run at the same time. Re: Waiting List?
I have in the past, had a game that had a finite voting length and whichever player had the Most Votes was the lynchHere's the thought I had about speeding up the game.
Hours in the game day shift:
Day 1 -16 hours
Day 2 -16 hours
Day 3 -14 hours
Day 4 -12 Hours
every day after - 12 hours
What does this mean?
Each Real day time 12 am to 12 noon is 2 hours of game time (if game day starts in the middle of real day then first 2 hours game time will last 1 and 1/2 real days)
Weekends will be an extension of Friday or added to Monday.
So Day 1 would last 8 days plus weekends. If no lynch happens then everyone goes to bed and the night cycle starts.
Thoughts?
(thought we could put it here, unless you want to bog up your game thread with the discussion)

Re: Waiting List?
Just thought I'd toss in my two cents:
1) What about having the required majority decrease after a set time period? For instance, start at M and then decrease by 1 every 2 RL days. After 1 week, the required amount would be M-3, after 10 days, M-5.
This would still give everyone a chance to discuss topics while providing only subtle pressure as the votes required slowly approached the number where the Wolves could do it all on their own (if they chose).
2) Give a fair portion of the population (maybe 1/4 to 1/3) a secret Overvote (randomly decided...so Wolf may end up with 2 votes). Put conditions on it so it only lasts the first day...maybe two. This might speed things up, if a vote gets close, but also has the chance of causing so much confusion that Day 2 and 3 last even longer...
As for the original idea, my problem with a strict time limit is the effect of vacations and other absences. Although I guess there is an argument to be made for not signing up in those cases...

Re: Waiting List?
You could start with the number needed for a lynch a bit higher than the majority for balance. Say after 4 real days, it would be down to where a majority vote would take it. It would still take 2 days to drop the majority anyway I think, due to even/odd numbers.stessier wrote: 1) What about having the required majority decrease after a set time period? The Sniper.
It takes him X days to set him up the nest. After that time, The Sniper may decide to finish whomever he wishes. He's a good guy obviously and it could be used like a hunter shot but there would be no lynch. He could remain quiet though and just snipe each day away. Could be cool depending on who has the gun; otherwise it would be hilarious. (Bahkshot)
