I'd have loved it if he could play with the Pats of a few years ago. Right now with the Pats offensive line he may as well remain a Lion.El Guapo wrote:90% chain-yanking, 10% Patriots fan fantasy...stessier wrote:I'm pretty sure El Guapo was yanking your chains...

If the Buffalo Jills cheerleaders have to live by a strict code of conduct that dictates their appearance, eating habits — and even how they use feminine products — then they also have the right to sue their football team over lousy pay, a New York state judge ruled.
The Buffalo Bills had argued that the cheerleaders had no labor rights under state law because they were “independent contractors,” not employees.
Erie County Judge Timothy Drury disagreed, saying there was nothing “independent” about an official rulebook that governs the women’s personal and professional lives down to their underwear.
...
Such strict guidelines mean the women were treated as employees, the judge found in the ruling that allows the cheerleaders to sue as a group instead of individually.
...
The women made no more than $1,800 a season while the team rakes in $256 million in yearly revenue, the case states.
The Bills plan to appeal the ruling, according to a spokesperson.

Gase, just 37 but viewed around the league as a rising star, emerged as the top choice of seven candidates to interview with the franchise, including interim coach Dan Campbell.
And he appears to have already filled out much of his staff. Fox Sports reported Saturday that Bengals defensive backs coach Vance Joseph will be the Dolphins’ next defensive coordinator.
The outlet also reported that Clint Hurtt, who was part of the University of Miami’s Nevin Shapiro scandal, will be the Dolphins’ new defensive line coach. Matt Burke will coach the linebackers and Jerome Henderson the defensive backs, Fox Sports added.
Gase comes to Miami from Chicago, where he was the Bears’ offensive coordinator in 2015. Before that, he ran the Broncos’ offense, working closely with Peyton Manning.
Rob Ryan, the former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator who was fired in November, will be joining the Bills as assistant head coach for defense after Rex Ryan hired him Sunday.
...
The Ryan brothers have not worked on the same staff since 1995, when both were assistants with the Arizona Cardinals under their father, Buddy Ryan.
I'll watch that. Well, I'll tape it and watch it at a reasonable hour, but same same. For first time ever, Super Bowl I will be rebroadcast on network television. Airs at 8 PM Friday on NFL Network.
This is one of the better ways he could ensure that there is at least one more Patriots ring during the Brady era. That, or going to work for Denver / Baltimore / Indy.stessier wrote:Did you know he has a couple rings from his time with the Patriots? He was the Linebackers Coach from 200-2003.
Considering the Bills haven't won the AFC East since 1995 I don't see this as helping the Patriots much. It's not like they have been challenging the Pats. When was the last time they even had a chance to win the division? Maybe Ryan is just being brought in to institute a bounty system for the Bills defense.El Guapo wrote:This is one of the better ways he could ensure that there is at least one more Patriots ring during the Brady era. I didn't know that footage of it still existed.stessier wrote:I'll watch that. Well, I'll tape it and watch it at a reasonable hour, but same same. For first time ever, Super Bowl I will be rebroadcast on network television. Airs at 8 PM Friday on NFL Network.
Considered to be the Holy Grail of sports broadcasts, the CBS and NBC tapes of the game were either lost or recorded over and no full video version of the game has existedâ¦until now.
In an exhaustive process that took months to complete, NFL Films searched its enormous archives of footage and were able to locate all 145 plays from Super Bowl I from more than a couple dozen disparate sources. Once all the plays were located, NFL Films was able to put the plays in order and stich them together while fully restoring, re-mastering, and color correcting the footage. Finally, audio from the NBC Sports radio broadcast featuring announcers Jim Simpson and George Ratterman was layered on top of the footage to complete the broadcast.
It's not much, but every little bit helps. And the Bills are talented enough to contend at the moment, especially if they can manage to get at least average quarterback play for a full season.EvilHomer3k wrote:Considering the Bills haven't won the AFC East since 1995 I don't see this as helping the Patriots much. Sounds like more of a recreation than a rebroadcast. Will be interesting to see how it turned out.Isgrimnur wrote:I didn't know that footage of it still existed.stessier wrote:I'll watch that. Why? His record with the Jets produced only 2 winning seasons out of 6. Every coach the Jets have had since Parcells produced more winning seasons per year of coaching. His overall record is .01 behind Norv Turner (.482 to .483). Who finds Norv Turner scary?stessier wrote:Any sane Pats fan is afraid of a Rex lead team. Not so much of a Rob lead defense - at least if he is the sole architect. Will be interesting to see what the mash up produces.
From the perspective of a Patriots fan he seemed to have the Jets competitive pretty much every year (except the last), even though the front office didn't give him a ton to work with (Revis aside). Plus that one good season (2010) was a little scarring.EvilHomer3k wrote:Why? His record with the Jets produced only 2 winning seasons out of 6. Mangini 2 out of 3 (win % with Jets is .479 which is roughly equal to ryan)
Edwards 3 out of 5 (.488 again, roughly equal to Ryan)
Groh 1 out of 1 (.563)
Parcells 2 out of 3 (.604)
What is it about Ryan that you find scary? He's an 8-8 guy who had one good season.
In one of the more surprising storylines of the offseason, the 69-year-old former Giants head coach will meet with the 49ers this week for their head coaching vacancy, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. He met with the Eagles on Monday.
Fox Sports first reported the news. The Giants gave permission to both clubs, as Coughlin still has a year remaining on his contract.
...
He stepped down from the Giants job last week, but only in name. The Giants wanted to move on after more than a decade and two Super Bowls, and Coughlin was more than excited to address his future during an inspiring press conference.
While the Eagles job might be more of an information-gathering session, the 49ers job shows that Coughlin is a very serious candidate. As Jed York and general manager Trent Baalke scramble to pick up the pieces from a year ago, an organized disciplinarian like Coughlin might be the way to go.

Context. For the remaining few years of his tenure with the Jets, they were hoarding cap space like that was their job (instead of winning games).EvilHomer3k wrote:Why? His record with the Jets produced only 2 winning seasons out of 6.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation released a statement Wednesday announcing Phillips’ death. He was found unresponsive in his cell at Kern Valley State Prison early on Wednesday morning and transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Prison officials suspect that Phillips took his own life.
On April 12, 2015, Phillips' cellmate Damion Soward, the cousin of former USC Trojan and NFL wide receiver R. Jay Soward, was found dead in the cell the two men shared. Soward, who was serving a sentence of 82-to-life for a murder conviction, was choked to death, and Phillips was regarded as the prime suspect in the case.
On September 1, 2015, Phillips was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Soward's death. On November 9, 2015, the prosecutor was granted a motion to reconsider whether to seek the death penalty.
NYT wrote:In explaining his decision, Osborne talked about Phillips's need to be part of the football team's "structure" in order to lend stability to his life.
In cutting off McEwen [Phillips' victim] from athletic aid because she had not progressed as a basketball player, Nebraska officials didn't seem to consider that being part of the basketball team's structure might help her stability in recovering from her trauma.
Phillips rushed for 165 yards and scored three touchdowns in the 62-24 rout of Florida in the Fiesta Bowl that rewarded Nebraska with its second consecutive mythical title and $13 million. In her 36 minutes of basketball last season, McEwen scored 3 points.
Only 2 Super Bowls in the last 11 years? What a loser. Why would any team hire this guy?Isgrimnur wrote:The Tom Coughlin tour:

The evidence never supported this belief.LawBeefaroni wrote:I still remember 1994 (I think it was?) when his assault charges were delayed so he could win Nebraska a championship. Then the next year he threw his girlfriend down a set of stairs and stayed on to win them another national title. Way to go Tom Osborne!
