Spoiler:
I didn't really buy the extent that Luthen and co. went after Andor...all those human resources spent, etc. It seemed a LITTLE far-fetched, but of course was totally necessary to tie the story arc together, and of course made the VERY end (which I think we could all see coming a mile away) better.
On Luthen's choices elsewhere:
Spoiler:
Luthen's decision to let Kreegyr's raid go forward to its doom (while knowing that the Empire expects it) recalls Churchill's treatment of the Coventry bombing.

In 1940, British intelligence had achieved some degree of success in reading German air-raid planning. In November, the Germans planned to bomb the small and inconsequential English city of Coventry. It's not entirely clear why they chose that target, but the Brits knew that a response in force would tip off the fact that they were aware of German planning.

Churchill decided to act as if the British had no foreknowledge of the attack, and the city was heavily bombed, resulting in high casualties. Many British citizens died or were wounded, but the Germans were left reassured that their codes were secure.
I think this illuminates Luthen's attitude towards Cassian.

It also reflects the reaction to the British learning about the Nazi Holocaust plans but doing nothing because it was from a secure German source, a broken code.

I recently watched Burn’s PBS documentary on the American reaction to the holocaust. The British knew by 41-42 that death camps were killing Jews, but they knew it because of their intercepting coded German messages. The Germans didn’t know their codes had been broken.

ANDOR season 2 trailer.
Spoiler:
I assume the Steve Earle tune is a trailer-only thing, but damn if it isn't inspiring.

X-Wings lifting off to a badass guitar riff (0:40) is something I never knew I needed until today.

Looks great! I thought S1 was a bit slow at times, but it was nearly always hovering around "excellent". And, of course it also makes Rogue One, which is my favorite Star Wars movie, even better.

No Star Wars show has had as much payoff as Andor. It's the kind of storytelling I had hoped to see.

Season 2 premieres on April 22. There are four three-episode arcs, with three eps dropping each week.

Not a long wait for completion!

Yeah, this show single-handedly renewed my "trust me you will like this" cred with the wife.

Andor is simply a fantastic television show, never mind that it's Star Wars. It does start out slow but that's just because they actually, by some miracle, produced a show that takes its time to introduce characters and setup the story, then keeps on layering more and more and it just gets better as it does.

It seems that for a limited time season 1 is streaming now on Hulu for those who don't have Disney+. The first three episodes (essentially the introductory arc) are also for free on Youtube.

So what you're saying is this kind of show wouldn't happen on Netflix?

There are quite a few really great shows on Netflix. But many of them are from other countries. That's probably the biggest reason I keep my Netflix subscription. But they also have Arcane, Blue Eyed Samurai, The Queen's Gambit and I Think You Should Leave from domestic studios (to name just a small fraction).

I just finished a rewatch of Andor s1, and it was just as great as the first time.

It's a minor thing, but I noticed a special little touch:
Spoiler:
When Bix is first about to face Dr. Gorst's interrogation device, there's a low-facing shot from the hallway outside the door. We see an ISB officer's boot march by as the door hisses closed.

This is an exact recreation of the shot in Star Wars ("Ep 4") as the interrogation cell in the Death Star closes on Princess Leia as she is about to meet Vader's hovering-globe interrogation droid.
I wonder what other such echoes I've missed.

Andor's five-season plan was axed due to "desperation," "Diego's face"
The show’s solution was, in Gilroy’s words, “born out of desperation”: The second season would instead truncate each of those remaining four years, with each of its four blocks of three episodes (which will release at a pace of a block per week starting on April 22) covering one of the years in question. (Luna’s previously said the show will basically be structured like four films, releasing sequentially.) “It’s a fascinating experiment,” Gilroy concludes, “And I don’t know if anyone’s ever done it before. We’re going to jump a year between each block, and we’re going to use that negative space in a really interesting way, coming back for three days at a time.”
It's almost as if people are the problem.
