That's crap. I was going to re-raise you and go all-in myself, but then I remembered that I only had $2 in the pot and a JTo. Who knew that it would have held up? No guts, no glory.Austin wrote:Nice hand. I figured I could get a show down with you. Unless you had a pocket I figured on being 52%. Good enough odds, although it really was a coin flip.

I was hoping for just me and The hugh. That's why I raised just enough to put him all in. Figured if I win, great. If not I'm still in the game. I was risking just what you mention though. I didn't have any kind of position and could have drawn more callers. I was hoping people would just say, "Let's let Austin and Godhugh duke this one out". Like I said, he had 2 over cards so it was a coin flip.RunningMn9 wrote:That's crap. I was going to re-raise you and go all-in myself, but then I remembered that I only had $2 in the pot and a JTo. I have the irrational love for JT (suited or not) that came with the realization that it can only make the nut straight. Ironically, I hold T5 in similar irrational affinity due to the fact that you need one of those two cards for any straight. Oddness...

Oh well, good hand Austin. I was pretty well short-stacked by that point and figured I wouldn't have a better shot at getting back into the game. Almost worked out
. Can't wait for the next game!

I don't know. I don't hold any particular love for the cards, because I'm not a big fan of chasing straights, and even if they pair, there are plenty of over cards out there. If they are suited, I will almost always play them, but unsuited, I'm not going to commit my stack with them. The Meal wrote:I don't remember if its you or not, but didn't you also get reraised huge preflop with the same holding?

I have an irrational love for suited cards. Probably because so many people chase them that I actually have to find myself backing down whenever three suited cards drop. Because I have taken so many stupid beats to some guy being suited, taking a third card on the flop and sticking all the way to the river to make his stupid nine high flush taking out my 3 of kind or whatever. My love is a stupid frustration illusion based on the few but almost always painful and always very memorable times someone pulls that shit off.RunningMn9 wrote:I don't know. I don't hold any particular love for the cards, because I'm not a big fan of chasing straights, and even if they pair, there are plenty of over cards out there. If they are suited, I will almost always play them, but unsuited, I'm not going to commit my stack with them.
Even though it would have worked this time.
I'll sit and play a nice patient game... doing nothing. Then Q2 suited comes along and I'll feel like I've been sitting still way too long. I'll see the flop and fold. Then 89 suited comes along and the chance for a straight comes along and fold at the turn. Then all of a sudden I find myself chasing 73 suited and I'm not even paying attention. Stupid.

I played
last night and the flop brought me
so I was sitting on the straight and the flush draw and stayed in to the end only to have a guy holding
double up through me when we both hit the flush on the river. I felt sure I was burned and still could not get away from it.

Even if you guys prove me wrong and finish up the hand, I won't start HAND21 until after I get back from my trip (so no intentional cliffhangers). Feel free to keep the discussion going in my absense. HAND02 was particularly interesting from where I sit, but you may need to convince CSL (and others) to reveal your hole cards...
