Thought I wrote about her in the
flying to Germany thread but must of just done it in my mind.
When I was in Germany, I noticed a group of women walking and had to lower my sunglasses because of the bedazzlement stessier! I worked up the nerve to ask if I could take a picture of her and her Little Miss Sunshine tee shirt. Granted I had to run down a cobblestone decline after thinking about her nationality and alcohol intake to prepare for any reaction. I must of looked over joyed enough that she gave me permission. It was a yearly festival in Heidelberg with people all over the place (we seemed to hit Germany during the peak celebration time).
The shirt has the copyright on it too, way cool! What a great smile on that lady! Out of the thousands upon thousands of people we saw during vacation, who would have ever guessed?

Sunuva! Hair and make up this weekend was just too much of a pain. I wake up this morning with a lazy man's plan for next weekend. So I figure I'd spend $35 (after shipping... Shipping, coming to $13 combined is nearly expensive on each item as the item is for 3-5 days ground) and order a pair round glasses, a New Your City shirt that I could cut the sleeves off of from Amazon, let my hair down, and simply be my birth day's sake John Lennon this coming weekend. (Well the fat Elvis version of John Lennon. The real John Lennon look set sail in my early 20s when my hair was fuller and 40 pounds lighter and leaner)
So. I ordered at 07:00 Eastern, figuring they should get here (the office) by Friday. Neither the T Shirt, nor the glasses have shipped yet today.
How long do you get to cancel an order on Amazon? Right up until they ship? If I'm not tracking stuff by the time I get out of bed tomorrow, the idea and it's usefulness will have passed it's expiration date.

Why, sure, sweetie, we can do your birthday celebration tomorrow (on the day before) after work rather than your day off on Thursday, (the day after), since you're working an open-to close on Wednesday.
Went to Barnes and Noble to pick up the first Walking Dead compendium and they refuse to match their website price, which is $25 cheaper than in-store. Screw that. Drive to one of her favorite clothing stores to get a gift certificate. Drive to Fry's and get the Walking Dead compendium price-matched to Amazon. (It was $18 cheaper at Fry's than BN before that.
) Go to the grocery store and buy stuff and make a Nutella cheesecake recipe I found online. Pray that there's no one wanting to go out to dinner at Hard Rock Cafe tomorrow night.
Time for a beer.

And I stole the smilie from GamingTrend.

How come everybody starts their diet after all the good food is gone and they're low on money?
Nobody ever starts it when there's a good cake or something sitting around.

Phone interview in 45 minutes and the butterflies have landed. I have no idea why - I know them and they know me (the interviewers, not the butterflies) . I interviewed with this guy 6 months ago and worked with him for 2 years before that.
Stupid butterflies must have just gotten lost during their winter migration.

I think he should picture Chaosraven naked instead. Still holding the rediwhip and smiling though. While hiding in his closet. On a weekend night when his wife and kids are out of town and stessier is home all alone. It wouldn't be a coy smile.

Oh great
now
I'm concerned about my imagination IF I was ever to have a phone interview. Actually think in any interview I'll have a moment or two of uncontrollable imagery. Geesh, so much for pictures getting burned into one's mind. The words created quite a vision!
Well, wishing you luck stessier and fewer butterflies as the interview continues.

Thanks for the support and horrifying suggestions.
The call was basically to let me know that they don't see a reason to interview me in person again at this point, that they thought I did well during the last one and am in the running for this position, but they got a few extra resumes this time and will be bringing in two or three other people in the next week. Last time it was a quality position, and I really sold them on my desire for it so he was kind of concerned since this was a product engineering position - which is what I'm doing now, albeit with a different product. I had anticipated that, though, and had an answer ready that I think did the trick. I also brought up some recent international travel I did for some customer support which he made note of and was happy to hear.
So now I wait. He hopes to have the other candidates finished by the end of next week. I figure it takes about 3 days to put together an offer package. So if it is a "Yes", I would hope to hear by 11/9. If it is a "No" or I'm the second choice and the other person declines, I figure I'll hear by Thanksgiving. (He also said if it comes down to me and someone and we are really close, they might ask me back for another round of interviews, but I see that as a long shot. They know me pretty well and I would think they would just pick one rather than have me back in again.)
The waiting is the worst part because of the uncertainty involved if I get the job. Our relocation package is a lump sum and we have to sell our house ourselves. I'm in a really small community (15k people) and when I checked with a real estate agent back in May, she mentioned that only 4 houses had sold in our intended listing range in the last 12 months (most people either buy much lower or much higher - we're in the middle no-man's land). We have equity and can sell for a really good price and still do fine because of the relo money, but we still need someone to look and agree that it is a good deal. Ugh.

Ready to quit today. And this feeling always happens when I have to remotely support groups of people who rely on people who aren't me until it's time to find someone to blame for their incorrect processes.
"Your process was wrong. And you were entering incorrect data. The customers system is tossing the data out. They're not generating and feedback that says it's bombing out. I can't fix that. Is it working now?"
"Yes."
two weeks later
"This has been broken for months and it's your fault."
CC: Plant Manager, Program Manager, Plant IT Manager, Logistics Manager
So now I have to put together entire strings of emails over months walking a bunch of disinterested parties through a problem.
"Fuck you!" is what I want to say so bad I can taste the words.
Edit: And I have accepted this actually my fault. Seriously. That's why I want to quit. I obviously can't communicate what I need to communicate to fix the problem. It is my failure. I've moved on to consistently using Green Goo's suggested bullet points to trouble shoot or checklist the resolution of problems but I can't get through, I can't get feedback, I can't understand the failure, and I can't adequately put a process in place to get through, understand failure, get feedback, and get acknowledgement of resolution.

I went to Freebird's yesterday. Their iced tea dispensers were unlabeled, save that one of them had a picture of Ice-T on it, and the other had Mr. T. I figured that Mr. T was unsweet.

For a nominal fee I can drive down from L.A. and do it for you. Services include maniacal laughter during the kicking and a pre-made "get well" card saying "Sorry to hear about your kick in the nuts, Brian" that I'll leave on his desk as I leave.

Well, that makes it 4 times I've banged my boo-boo finger. Happy it's the middle one cause when I yelp, I flip off the stationary thing that I whacked it on.
When I donated a huge box of books to the local library my knuckle, actually it's the space in-between the knuckles, scraped against the door frame just right to peel off a good chunk of skin. The body is doing a fantastic job of healing, sure there will be a fuckin scar but I was able to keep infection out for several days now.

It's just never a good sign after the dentist administers the fourth shot and you're still feeling some pain during the root canal, he tells you there's nothing more he can do. Apparently I have crazy over-nerved teeth. I don't remember paying for that upgrade, but at least now I know.

My wife has NO nerves in hers. She would go to the dentist and tell me he didn't hurt a bit...and it did. Turns out she has no nerves. She doesn't even need a shot after that discovery.
