I am still waiting for an excellent Souls like game which a "Casual" or "Extremely Easy" setting. I have tried a few including the much praised Elden Ring. But, the difficulty just makes it frustrating and not fun for me. It just seems ridiculous to lose customers over a stubborn belief that a game can't have an easy/casual mode. Give dopes like me the option to have a casual exeprience. My gaming time is limited and I don't want to go through boot camp to play a damn game.
Your unspoken assumption is that they wouldn't lose customers if they did include an easy/casual mode.

I'm not going to argue game design and demographics, I'm just going to say that not all games are for everyone. I feel like that's self evident (I'm not a fan of jrpgs, for example) and that's just the way the world works sometimes.

Why in the world would anyone refuse to buy a game because they added difficulty options?! They aren't losing anything.

Even weird ass Nintendo added a rookie difficulty to Metroid Dread. I've never wanted to play it on that difficulty, but I don't resent people who do.

You'd have to ask them. This is not a new idea, and there are many discussions about this idea on the 'net. I'd look for game designers opinions, as they are the ones making the decision, hopefully they know why they are doing it.

edit: Here's an article from SMU. I didn't read it and have no idea if their arguments resonate or not. But you seemed interested, and this is the first link I found.

https://www.thesmujournal.ca/video-game ... -easy-mode

They did mention a gaming community's shared experience as a possible motivator. I think there is some legitimacy to that.

What kind of download rate are you guys getting from Steam these days? I feel like it used to be faster, but I've never quantified it before. Steam is telling me 13-14 MB/s currently. That seems slow. Maybe I'm way off, as I'm basing my comments on how it feels.

Around a week ago I was getting 58MB I think.

I'm getting my usual 300Mbps/37.5MBps download speed (limited by my ISP, not Steam). I just did a quick test just now to confirm it.

Ok, that's good to know. I'll look into it.

Who's your ISP, Max? I'm using Teksavvy on Rogers cable.

Two Worlds II is fairly decent. I can't fight skeletons to save my life. Somehow they hit harder than other enemies and come in groups. Fire works well but in dungeons they get in my face and I don't have time to cast without having them break my concentration with a hit. Probably I'd be fine if I had specced only as a warrior but I had hoped to be able to build a mage.

I think its time to reinstall Conquest: Frontier Wars. All the space stuff videos Ive been watching have me in the mood again....if it runs now days. It would be good on a tablet I bet.

Getting tired of star trek fleet command...turned into a wait wait wait game..i hate mobile games for that single reason.

Heh, Two Worlds II was much improved over the first game. Still wasn't perfect, but it at least was playable without it being too frustrating, and the world design was quite nice. They even have a quest that nods to the Medieval language the game first used.

The quasi-Elizabethan language it used. Badly.

The magic system seems interesting but I'm level 10 and still don't have enough magical things (skills and cards) to really have more than the two starting spells. So I'm a basic man at arms for now. The RNG for loot combined with the seeming lack of respawning enemies bothers me. I know there are enough bodies and chests that chance will even out but it feels like I am missing out. For those who remember the game; when do you start seeing magic crystals to slot into items?

I apparently do not remember the game at all...

Cards? Magic crystals?

I'm at a complete loss, sorry. Steam says I last played it in 2013.

Forsooth! Yes, very badly, producing very stilted dialogue.

I've played the game, but I don't remember the magic system at all. Then again, I went as a fighter, which was far less relying on random spawns. And no, there aren't respawning enemies, from what I recall. I think I remember hearing at the time of release that there were complaints about the game being stacked against magic users.

Is Steam Link an option? The game is still playing on your PC, but you see the game on your tablet screen. (I use Steam Link to stream internet video from my PC to my TV.)
Steam officially supports streaming to other devices, including Android tablets:

That's just the VR version which I don't play. They have a new Wallace & Gromit pack coming out soon for the main game.

I'm hoping they'll announce a sequel at some point, but they seem content to just keep adding DLC.

I finally got a few crystals last night which means that might be level limited but there are still no magic drops. The magic system looks like a fun built a spell type but if I can't get the materials to start building interesting spells (right now I can do trivial variations on fire bolt) I might drop the game.
