This is VERY great of her to do this. I'm sure they would be happy with just a 501st member (Also great people to do this) but to have the actual armoror show up is awesome.
I very much like when actors give back like this. Yes, I know they get PR from it but still...

I wonder (although unlikely) if that is her screen worn armor that Disney lets her use (They should, just for the PR) or if she had it made for her.

The caption for the video says that it's armor that a member of the 501st made for her.

I really loved this. Wow so cool to me. CBS showed the original Star Wars one night in 1984. This is that but minus the actual movie itself. Its the intro and outro to the movie but keeps ALL the commercials. Its wonderful to see them. As one commenter posted its like yesterday even though it was 40 years ago. For the most part all the ads could be recently almost.

Its hosted by Mark Hamill also and has behind the scene footage of how they made it and talking to the actors at places.

If in the 80s you tried to watch stuff 40 years old that would put you into 40s and I dont think you'd find anything lol. Even 50s ads would seem ancient in the 80s. But 80s in the 2020s not much at all. Least to me and some others in the comments.

Anyone remember the boxer Butterbean? i used to love seeing him trounce folks in the ring. He was one of a kind in his day.

Also he is much younger than I thought..57. Just 2 years older than me. Makes me feel bad that I complain about my shitty health .

This man, Mr Woods, was born in 1877 and died in 1975 at age 98. Just before his death that same year this interview took place. In it he recounts him seeing the Wright brothers powered flight in 1903. He helped push it. Said he could run as fast as it was moving when it left the ground.

Love the Holobox and monorail cars. have seen them before. But really want one of those small cars or bikes. Both looked great for my area.

While archiving a stack of vintage VHS tapes I discovered this television recording of the special which aired on Oklahoma City's KAUT-43 on February 6th, 1983.

Would have loved to see the commercials. Those things id promptly get up from the floor and run away from. Id do anything other than watch ads. Yet somehow I picked up all the jingles of the day. TV commercials and the evening news were my arch enemies of fun television viewing in the 70s.

1984 An hour of Friday Night Videos with commercials. I actually preferred this over Mtv. I HATED the vjs on Mtv. So cringy.

I love the bows and Xbows in this video. i think my favorite is the compound bow that draws back and fires like a rifle and holds 5 or 6 arrows.

1. That's awesome. Some of those pieces are huge, and the wiring must have been insane.
2. I wonder if it's coincidence that the scale is correct for some lines of TOS figures.
3. The truly insane part was that they didn't design it so that the glass is flush with the top of the walls in order to keep dust out.

Years ago there was this app that would randomly connect you to someone else - it was like ChatRoulette but it was mobile. And I tried it out and got connected with a bunch of young 20-somethings in Ireland who were out drinking. So we were chatting and they were showing me around downtown and drinking toasts to me, etc. It was hilarious and fun.

Nah I always figured id see 70 at least barring an accident. It just feels weird to be here in my 50s now when the other day I was 17 thinking 50 year olds are ancient.. But now that Im here my world is really ended and Im just waiting on my end that seems late. Its not the world or me i expect to be here waiting for me in my 50s. I think with all my sadness and depression and nothing going right and stuff breaking its gonna kill me sooner than my 17 year old self figured.

Yup, that is clinical depression talking. You can change that with some determination and effort...but paradoxically, depression kills those traits, so calling it a choice needs a big asterisk. You live in a low-resource area that makes it difficult to get help even if you motivate yourself to try, and depression kills motivation. I've been in that spiral and it took outside help to break me out. We can nag you and post links to resources, as we've done, but we can't intervene. You have the power to change your life, and you'll be so glad you did it when you're on the other side, but you have to want to make that journey. And depression takes away that want. It's hard to call it a choice when your brain won't let you make it.

But we have a depression thread if you want to pursue this. It's kind of depressing for the funny videos thread.

I got to a point where answering the door for the pizza guy was too much social interaction, and I almost turned down a free ticket to a Dallas Stars game.
