You keep tempting me in to reinstalling Foundation. Sounds like I should wait another two weeks. Tempt me again then...

Copy that. Or you could reinstall it now so when the update comes you'll be readyLordMortis wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 7:47 pm You keep tempting me in to reinstalling Foundation. Sounds like I should wait another two weeks. Tempt me again then...

Re: Video Games Randomness - Prioritize specific game threads!
After playing a couple rounds of the HOMM 3 board game yesterday, I picked up Songs of Conquest on a whim today for PS5. It's a surprisingly good HOMM 3 clone that is far more fun than I expected it to be. It's very similar, but has just enough differentiators to set it apart and make things really interesting. I'm generally not a big fan of pixel graphics, but these are very well done and the core gameplay is solid.
Very early on, but two early thumbs up (doubly so if you're a HOMM 3 fan to begin with)

I'm in a similar spot with Songs of Conquest. I didn't think I was going to like it but the pixels don't bother me like I thought, and the gameplay is enjoyable. I haven't gotten very far either, but it was fun to play a map or two recently.Skinypupy wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 8:39 pm After playing a couple rounds of the HOMM 3 board game yesterday, I picked up Songs of Conquest on a whim today for PS5. Those screens look awfully busy and I'm over the overly pixilated art trend. Still, I put it on my wishlist. $12 is tempting but if I'm not going to play right away it's just throwing $12 to the wind and I quit doing that some time ago.

It's not any busier than HOMM3, and is pretty easy to grok once you get a sense of which objects are interactable and which aren't. I had that all sorted by the end of the tutorial mission.LordMortis wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:41 am Those screens look awfully busy and I'm over the overly pixilated art trend. Re: Video Games Randomness - Prioritize specific game threads!
Gave the demo of this a try today.
There's a lot to like about it, but it has one major fault, the camera stays in a fixed direction, not relative to the player (like a chase camera) but instead in a real world direction. To explain this, the camera follows the skier, but it always points (for example) north. So whether you are skiing north or south, east or west, the camera is always looking at you from the south towards the north. It is very frustrating.
