They're trying to get people excited about DOW series again, right before they announce DOW3! (It's my fantasy, if you don't like it go get your own!)

Really love the DoW series. Played and finished them all and the addons. I really think I preferred the first one because I liked the smaller feel to it with bases and the regenerating squads. The others are fine too though. Either style Ill be happy with,

Glad you mentioned that. I was considering which one to play, and figured I would start with the second, and just forget the first. I seem to have this dilemma a lot wrt PC games for some reason.

DOW2 is not just a sequel with a few tweaks to game play/new story/new factions. They are radically different play styles. DOW1 is a base-building RTS (with rather limited unit cap compared to most RTS's). DOW2 is more about controlling a handful of units, keeping them alive and upgrading them. Very little in the way of any base building.
