I LAYED on the horn yesterday at a guy who did this in front of me!
He then hit the gas for a beat and slammed on the brakes, rolled down his window and starting screaming back at me.
I just laughed at him and went around him on the inner circle sidewalk. Dipshit.

Re: Random randomness
Quicken Loans called to refinance me down from 5.5% to 3.75%. I was stoked. I sent in all of the paperwork and they cut my loan by about $50 a month. I was more stoked. With my goal of paying of my mortgage at the time in 42 months, I sat down and did the math and the refinancing costs had me paying about $800 extra to pay the loan off in 42 months at 3.75% while "saving $50" a month after refinancing. So explained this to agent and he denied it and we did the amortization math together on his amortization calculator instead of the Internet one I was using. He finally admitted I was right. I should have hung up the phone then but instead I spent 20 minute arguing with him that the stability of saving $50 a month if I got unemployed wasn't worth $800 out of my plans over the next 3 /12 year.Vorret wrote:lolWPD wrote:It is funny when an insurance company calls you to tell you their auto quote and it is higher than your current rate and they're like "Well. 10 years ago when I originally got my loan, the lenders and realtors tried to talk me into more more more. They kept insisting that the payment was only slightly higher for so much more house and my income would quickly grow into the mortgage. 4 years ago when they started the 3.5% government subsidized refinancing to keep people from walking away from their underwater mortgages, the kept telling me I didn't qualify because I was too far underwater. Now that my mortgage (crappy as it is) is under control, they want to give me a raw deal and keep claiming they are my savior.

Work is sponsoring mine, so I check their sale ad every month.
Also the A2 CostCos has the cheapest gas on the west side, so any time you're headed west, it would behoove you to fill up there.
I am cheap about everything but HaBA and Detergents. They don't carry any of my toiletries or cleansers, so I don't get that stuff. But I'm all about the 50 packs of instant oat meals Nature Valleys and such when they go on special. With my free membership, CostCos is good for about $40-$50 a month out of my wallet. The savings might be $5 at a time, so it still wouldn't be worth me buying my own membership.
I may eventually get some electronics stuff there. We'll see if and when that time ever comes.
And I absolutely despise that they've change their layout every damned time I walk in the store. I don't care if it works on other people. I don't want to rediscover the damned store every time I walk in.

A membership is kind of a waste for a household of one.
That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

Damn it. I can not get past the kid quitting. We haven't even started practices yet (won't until January) but she was supposed to be the #1 setter and I'd already seen her show a lot of leadership during tryouts when we put them in game situations directing the floor and where she wanted her hitters. I was really looking forward to working with her as I think she has the raw talent to potentially go D2 (she is very short for D1 or I'd say she could play at that level) and combined with that leadership ability I was going to have an easy time getting schools to look at her. Seems silly to miss a kid I hadn't even started working with yet.

No, it's not. I shop at Sam's and pick up toilet paper and cleaning supplies in bulk, get my sodas by the case at a regular cheap rate rather than having to sale hunt, and even some foodstuffs that go in the freezer.bb2112 wrote:A membership is kind of a waste for a household of one.
There's plenty of stuff that a household of one can acquire on a regular basis that makes shopping at a warehouse store a viable option. You just have to have the storage/freezer space to make it viable.

I recently ordered 2x2 terabyte external WD drives from Best Buy during their Cyber Monday sale. I had to return both of them, since later in the week I walked into Costco and found the same drive regularly priced $20 less than the door crasher price at Best Buy (which was a good price).LordMortis wrote:I may eventually get some electronics stuff there. There isn't a huge selection at Costco, but if they have what you want, or you're not fussy about a specific product, Costco is great for electronics.

That's pretty much how I take shopping at Sam's. It's, "want what we have, or go somewhere else." If you can find stuff there that fits your needs, gravy. But it won't replace going to the grocery store or get you that exact piece of equipment you need when you need it.

Indeed, it's worth bearing in mind Costco has a policy of refusing to mark up the price of any product they sell by more than 15%. So while they may not offer the greatest selection, you can be pretty sure that whatever you buy there will almost always be priced competitively.GreenGoo wrote:I recently ordered 2x2 terabyte external WD drives from Best Buy during their Cyber Monday sale. Not shopping at WaMart's, I can safely say that if I am not sale shopping and want stuff to buy in bulk then CostCos has the best prices around on standard big name brand food. Aldi is better priced for generic food. As an obsessive sale shopper (and coupon cutter) I both places prices with Meijer prices consistently but when I shop at Meijers, my receipt usually informs me that I am "saving" between 40-70% off their normal pricing. While it's all psychological price games, there is a still a sense of accomplishment when you 80% off or more. Where if you were insane you'd pay $200 for the same groceries I walked out of store paying less than $40 for.Anonymous Bosch wrote:Indeed, it's worth bearing in mind Costco has a policy of refusing to mark up the price of any product they sell by more than 15%. My stepson and his girlfriend decided they wanted a dog. Their trailer is too crowded with the two of them. They talked us into letting them them have a trained border collie.
Later he told me it was a border collie mix. With short hair.
We figured a dog that size was a little on the big size but we said okay they could have it.
He brings back a shorthaired lab with a touch of white on it. The thing is bigger than all eight of our dogs put together. Brings it into our house to show it off. Our little yappers have a shit hemorrhage. Their dog gets upset. Mayhem ensues.
The future should prove to be interesting.

My wife texted me the following story this morning:
She is at work and noticed a coworker's desktop backgroup is from Elf (the Will Ferrell movie). She mentions to her how she thought it was a funny movie.
The coworker explains that she loves it as well as Anchorman.
My wife replies "Yeah, Ron Jeremy cracks me up!"
.....
Everyone around stops what they are doing and stares at her..
The coworker "You mean Ron Burgundy?..."
