To try and be more helpful, the wave of videos you've been posting here and in R&P lately have been hard-right propaganda. They may be funny, but you're posting the equivalent of One America News Network and Fox News. It's extremist bull, and you're watching enough of it that YouTube is going to keep throwing it at you until you start to believe it. And people are going to keep calling you out for what you're posting.

They love engagement. A view from a believer is equivalent to a hate view. A helpful post is less worthwhile than an angry post. The hate takes more time to write and spurs flame wars.

YouTube pays for engagement— and propaganda videos can be more financially successful if they’re more extreme. Why? YouTube wants (and pays for) viewer time and data. Angry people spend more time and respond more.

Right wing bullshit has become a financial profit center. Ask Joe Rogan. Or Alex Jones. Or Donald Trump. It’s not going to stop as long as someone’s able to make money.

Pure vocals aren't my usual thing. I find most a capella groups dull. They have great technical skill, but tend to be too precise and clean, such that they lack much real personality and expression.

This is an exception, and sent me down a rabbit hole. It's Oogie Boogie's Song from Nightmare Before Christmas. They have the skill, but manage to put so much expression into the arrangement that it's not just impressive - it's fun. It also has what is just about the lowest note I've ever heard come out of a human being (Tim Storms still holds that record - literally.)

Their presentation is excellent, too.

Layne Stein (blinking red nose in the first video, redheaded demon in the second) is the primary beatboxer, although they apparently have multiples so they can harmonize the sounds, and so that he can sing while others take up the 'instrumentals.'

It's telling that I had the same reaction - that it wasn't true a capella, that they had a backing track. Nope - Layne Stein is essentially a beatboxing reinterpretation of Michael Winslow (the sound effects guy from Police Academy.)

I can’t imagine anything like this in the US. I had so much fun when I visited Germany. I rode the most unsafe looking funicular in the Black Forest but this just seems crazy.



I do remember growing up riding something similar but with higher walls. I did a little digging and it looks like it was invented in Germany.

Ive rode things sorta like that but we were standing up against the inside of the wall. And it would spin then tilt up and we were still plastered to the wall by centrifugal force. But this is crazy looking and totally unsafe. Yet they do it. Weird. I wouldn't.

How they are still sticking to the floor in the middle I dont know. Seems to be anti physics.

Yeah, we had one of those in the local amusement park years ago but they got rid of it. You would stand against the wall and the floor would drop and you'd still be plastered to the wall. It was fun! (but yeah, it was a closed tube)

On the topic of dangerous amusement park rides, I still remember getting into a rollercoaster at Cedar Point in high school and then, after the ride started, realizing I could lift the hazard bar up without any problem. I believe the "coaster cam" photo that you could get after the ride featured me lifting the bar up slightly and having an expression of sheer terror on my face.
