Ive rode things sorta like that but we were standing up against the inside of the wall. And it would spin then tilt up and we were still plastered to the wall by centrifugal force. But this is crazy looking and totally unsafe. Yet they do it. Weird. I wouldn't.

I wouldn't rate it studying and I watch on 2x, but probably not. The headlines on the videos pretty much tell the story to the extant any headline does (high level, no nuance, etc.). The last video is worth a watch just to get the details on how it's ending, but I found them all interesting.

We've been discussing finding good YT channels over in the R&P videos thread. Even if you're not into R&P, the discussion has been a good one, despite being a derail. But this is OO - we follow where the conversation leads. Anyway, short version: Lots of people end up with so much clickbaity, manipulative garbage in their feed that I suggested we should be sharing more channels, and not just single oddball videos. I also said...

And people need to learn to encourage this by not actively discouraging people when they post stuff that isn't too their personal taste (we do have a few people here who like to be dismissive of other peoples' forms of enjoyment when they don't consider them 'good enough'.)

Criticize the actual content all you like - but if it's simply not your cup of tea, why bother to post just to knock someone else down? Let people have their fun. If everyone had the same fun as you (or me), the world would be a boring place.

Anyway, to put my money where my mouth is, I offer up one Daniel Greene a genuinely knowledgeable reader, writer, and reviewer of fantasy (and some sci-fi.) And when it comes to general fantasy genre news (most books, but also games, film, and TV), he's a great source. He's also a good human being. He just put his own flesh up for charity, raising $23,000 for Horizons for Homeless Children in Boston, with the top contributor getting to design a tattoo that would be permanently etched on his body. Another channel, which I was hesitant to mention due to potential backlash that I've seen here before, is The Charismatic Voice. As soon as I mentioned here, a couple of other OOers chimed in with their fondness for her videos.

She's a professional opera singer (in which she has a master's degree), vocal coach, and composer. She listens to various types of music (lots of rock and metal), and passes on her impressions.

And as I said there, there are multiple types of 'reaction videos' that shouldn't all be lumped together. There is a big difference between two random people watching Star Wars and pretending it's their first time, and genuine experts experiencing something in their field and passing on their knowledge and expertise. The prior is (to me), tedious. The latter is informative, educational, and can really give you an appreciation for things that you didn't pay much attention to before. In this case, for me, the amount of intentional skill that goes into singing - I always thought that great singers were natural talent tweaked with some coaching, but I've learned just how much intentional control over the voice is involved - it's more like a professional gymnast or dancer at work, with every muscle movement planned, controlled, and intentional.

Here are a couple of my favorite videos from her, but then again, my musical taste doesn't really follow the norms. So browse through her offerings and see if your favorite bands are included.

First, I love how he handled that. I'm only up to him returning to his squad car. That's exactly how these situations should be handled. I realize he is not feeling threatened, the member of the public was not particularly belligerent or hostile, not acting suspiciously and the cop was not outnumbered, which might increase his feelings of unease. Still, he's getting the job done without threatening anyone or being insecure about his authority. No guns were involved.

I do think calling the guy out about police officer vs deputy sheriff was a bit of an easy shot (although I realize he was trying to gently make the guy understand that he has no idea what he's talking about). I don't keep track of who's what. "Law enforcement officer" might be a better catch-all for the average member of the public to use.

Anyway, I do my very best to comply when a man with a gun and the full weight of the government asks me to do things. I'm a white older male now, so I get the easy treatment most of the time. Thanks Mom and Dad.

This is an interesting watch. Its about a serial killer in the 70s that always was babied by the police and got to continue his spree until he accidentally killed himself while committing another murder years later. But it all wouldn't be solved until 2019.
