in terms of state 'all time total infected', Utah is at this moment a mere 10 cases behind Washington state (the traditional 'origin' of the pandemic in the US)

Cruise stocks rose Friday after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced it will replace its nearly 8-month old no-sail order with a less restrictive “Conditional Sailing Order.”
The no-sail order expires Saturday. The new conditional order will remain in effect until either Nov. 1, 2021, the expiration of the Department of Health and Human Services’ declaration of a public health emergency or when CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield decides to end it.
...
The new order establishes a framework that will help the industry implement safety measures that will enable it to resume operations in U.S. waters in a phased approach, the CDC said in a statement. Before restarting passenger operations in any commercial form, the companies will face tests from the CDC on how safe their protocols are, the agency said.
...
Last month, Redfield pushed to extend the order until February 2021, according to Axios, which cited two people familiar with the matter. Axios reported that Vice President Mike Pence overruled Redfield to extend the ban until Oct. 31.

If it makes you feel any better....
Covid is spreading "significantly" faster through England than even the government's predicted "worst-case" scenario, documents reveal.
The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) says there are around four times as many people catching Covid than anticipated.
A "reasonable worst-case scenario" is used by officials and the NHS to plan for the months ahead.
It had estimated 85,000 deaths from Covid over the course of winter.
But an official Sage document, dated 14 October and published today, reveals we are in a worse position than expected.
Scientists crunching the numbers estimated that, by mid-October, there were between 43,000 and 74,000 people being infected with coronavirus every day in England.
Their report said: "This is significantly above the profile of the reasonable worst-case scenario, where the number of daily infections in England remained between 12,000-13,000 throughout October."

Fool of a town had its annual Block Party today and will again tomorrow. Video showed crowds packed in lines, kids no masks, lots of adults no mask. Mask were not required. One guy was behind plexiglass sliding candy down a large pvc pipe which is ok I guess but then he started talking down the same pipe without a mask on. Sigh. We always said if God was going to give the Earth and enema he'd stick it in this town as its the butthole of the universe.

Started feeling off last Thursday. Not terrible, but just not great. Enough that I felt I needed to cancel a dentist appointment I had scheduled for that day. By the weekend, I was feeling shitty. A headache I just couldn't shake and an annoying cough. Got tested on Sunday (that nasal swab was NOT pleasant), and got the results back yesterday. Positive. Bummer.
Wife and kids are all symptom-free so far, and they went and got tested yesterday, so we'll see what their results are.
I'm currently quarantining from the rest of my family in the basement and still feeling pretty bad. The worst is the persistent headache I just can't seem to shake. Really uncomfortable. Between that and the intermittent fever/chills, it really does feel like a bad case of the flu.
Still doing (relatively) ok?

I would think that even with this opening up, the invisible hand of Death will eventually slap the invisible hand of the Economy and shut cruises down again. In other words, once people start getting COVID on cruise ships folks will stop booking tickets.

After three months of all in-person teaching, my son's "We don't need no stinkin' precautions!" school just had the state step in and tell them to go hybrid after the state reached 9% positive and passed 200/100,000 in new cases.
So, this was implemented starting yesterday. The implementation was completely Indiana.
They divided the student body into two groups, Red Group and Blue Group (the school colors.) Each group is in-person on alternating days, so Red is M, W, F, then Tu, Th, and Blue is the alternative days. Seems like a reasonable plan. How could they screw it up?
Well, instead of dividing the student body in half, they did it by last name and divided the alphabet in half, 13 letters in each group. Red is A-M and BLue is N-Z. Yeah, one group gets J, M, D, and C, the other gets Q, U, V, X, Y and Z. As a result, Red Group is 3/4 of the student body, and Blue Group is 1/4. And these are the people educating my children. The scary part is that we go out of our way to take them to this school, clear over in the next county, because it is better than the local school.
/edit - and the governor has reaffirmed that being at stage 5 - complete reopening - is the right move and won't dial it back. And he's ahead by 20+ points, so it won't be changing anytime soon. Goodbye, cruel world.

So far it’s just been fever and some associated aches/pains. Breathing is good and O2 levels are still high. My wife is on Day Five of isolation, so hopefully half way through. The rest of us have about 10 days left of quarantine I guess.

I heard on the radio yesterday that the chance of being infected by someone you live with is only about 50%. That's lower than I would have expected.

Last week sucked, but I feel like I turned a corner yesterday, and today I would say I’m cautiously optimistic I am on the mend. I’ve still got an annoyingly persistent cough, and my energy levels aren’t anywhere close to normal, but I’m getting my appetite back and, above all, the horrible headache I had for like five days straight last week finally seems to be in the rear view mirror. Once the headache receded, I started getting a decent night’s sleep, and I think that’s really helped.
My two boys Who tested positive are still asymptomatic, And my wife and daughter are also still feeling fine, so good news there, too.
Thanks for checking in, and I appreciate all the OO good wishes!

All Trump had to do was say, "Wear a mask to Make America Great," and his people would have followed suit.
Instead, he opted for wishful thinking and then reactionary anti-science. So so much of this spread is directly his fault.
