Damn it. Now I'm craving. I may have to go out and buy the needed ingredients to make some this weekend.
Or just go to Max and Erma's. When I make it, I only know how to make several gallons and that's just too much unless I'm bringing it over to a relatives house.
I end up freezing the majority of it and thus it can last for weeks. It'd last for months except that I eat it all.

I just went to the CBS store and got the "official" NCIS Bert the Farting Hippo . My wife should get a kick out of it.

I spent a lot of money today. Doing this and that, then ending up at a craft show made the total close to 1k.
3 pocketbooks... actual pocket books, cause they were crafted from the binders of books which totaled about $500 for 3. I don't usually spend large sums of money by myself but couldn't resist the bags! Started freaking out cause I was, well freaked out at the utter coolness of the craft! Of course I called first to get the Ok. Got one for my best, best friend (Alice in Wonderland) , my mom (Lone Ranger) and myself (Wizard of Oz).
Know it's girly but happy to help the others hoping to make a buck today
Other things purchased:
Groceries for both sets of parents including ourselves
Wine and Tequila
Canned goods and soap from the craft fair

Unique hand-made gifts can be the best kind. I used to sell record purses made from old LPs (in fact I have exactly
one left if you want to see what I'm talking about). The product line didn't work out for reasons I won't bore you with, but when I was still working with that artist I sent her my wife's old Rocky Horror Picture Show album to make into a purse. Wife was thrilled with the purse (even though it meant I'd sacrificed her LP without her knowledge) and, years later, she carried it into a stage production of the Rocky Horror Show. That purse was the envy of all who saw it.

Upgraded to the new iTunes version over the weekend (11) and I absolutely hate it. I'm sure there's a way to get my old iTunes interface back, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Gas at 3.19 this morning.
I felt like I won the lottery right up until I got to work and my coffee mug was missing. Nothing lets me know how close I am to being mentally disabled like having lost my morning coffee mug of 15 years. It has been both the symbolic and physical tool to chemically implement the start of my day. I feel like Rain Man and I'm going crazy with preoccupation. I swear to pancake I'm a wreck and I can't drink out of this faux chalice. This pretender to the throne. Every sip feels like I chose poorly and I'm going to grow old in seconds and melt. And in poor drinking decision making fashion I discovered this weekend that I've hit a point in life where I'm a wreck after a six pack of ultra light beer and even a bigger wreck the next morning. This isn't going to bode well for the coming weekend when we will do the Santarchy Detroit pub crawl from 19:00 to 01:30. Even if I manage to limit myself to one ultra light beer a bar every half hour or so, that's putting down a twelve pack. Saturday night proved to me that a 12 pack won't be happening. I also discovered a new phenomena whilst in the state of being shitty this weekend. I have the capacity to get nostalgic for and dance to early 80s instrumental funk that sounds as if it could be god parent to House Techno. Who knew? I hated House Techno in the mid to late 80s. I had no idea what was playing but I was grooving like only a middle aged white man raised on a farm full of back and joint pain can. I believe they started with surfer music. In fact I know they did because, "Wipeout" is what started us on to whatever it was we were doing. And speaking of segues that make you wonder how you got to where you are, our proclamation for our evening preceding the Sunday morning pain in every way possible, by a unanimous vote of three, was that Lux Interior is to be named the greatest front man in Rock and Roll history. He handily beat our runners up Perry Ferrell and David Lee Roth.

There was a study done a few years ago suggesting we believe coffee tastes better when it comes out of our "favorite" cup. I'm assuming it's part of the ritualized nature of taking the drug.

I've always said that stereotypes usually have a grounding in truth, but still shouldn't be assumed.
But I had to stifle a laugh last night. We were at my soon-to-be BIL's house for his kid's birthday. The maternal grandfather is here visiting from Romania, and was wearing a suit when I arrived. He went in and changed later, and came out in a track suit.

That's weird. I have mugs that feel nicer in my hands than others, and that keep a beverage hotter longer than others, but they taste the same.
Styrofoam though... feh.

My wife always makes the morning coffee and serves mine in my favorite mugs in descending order of favorite-ness (uses #1 favorite if it is clean, else uses #2, and so on). One of the little things I love.

The State of NJ is trying to pass a bill that would require merchants to charge $.05 - .15 cents per plastic bag at some point in the future when customers opt to use them. I'm nearly certain this type of legislation has already been passed in other states so it doesn't surprise me it's happening here. What does surprise me is that there is a group (the American Progressive Bag Alliance) actively seeking to block it. Apparently they are made up of a group of plastic bag manufacturers - and industry so prolific they require a lobbyist.
EDIT: When Mortis is asking for a correction because you've confused him, it's a GOOD day.

Bags. You pay 5 cents per bag you require. Pushing bags you reuse as the alternative. I'm guessing here but from the name if the alliance, seems a safe bet.

It does seem that way, but the subject seems to have come from my dismissal of styrofoam coffee cups. Disposable packaging industry mavens, anyway.

Some cities in California do this (guess which ones) but the state as a whole rejected it.

Huh. Up here, bags are free. If you bring your own, they give you back $0.05 per bag that you recycled.

yeah, few cities in Washington state have bag laws. Charge you to use plastic bags, some stores give a refund of 5 cents for bringing your own bag. there are some types of stores and merchandise that are exempt from the plastic bag law.
I have about 2 dozen reusable bags, and didn't pay for any of them. Once it became clear that reusable bags were going to be needed, handing out bags with the company name on them became a new standard in advertising.

My christmas present from my wife this year was 7 new shopping bags to replace the filthy and tattered ones I've been using for the past couple of years. That's 35 cents a week off the grocery bill...$18.20 a year, baby!
I do use the plastic ones for wastebasket liners, though, and will miss them after they're banished.

If you get a nickle off for every bag of your own you use why wouldn't one bring in enough bags for one grocery item per bag?

Because at the self-checkout station one must enter each nickel "coupon" individually, and each one takes nearly 10 seconds. One can feel the shopper behind one's self in line staring daggers into the back of one's head as the terminal says "Savings...five...cents...(wait) (wait) (wait)" seven times in row.
Yes, I'm really that cheap. Deal with it.

I often search for funny pictures using a livejournal picture feed. If I see a particularly funny (or sexy
) picture I might open up the actual livejournal page it was pulled from. More often than not, it is in Russian. My browser translates to english as best it can. Today I ran across a conversation where one of the participants comment was translated as "Cancel blonde. If only, when cowards withdraw, they would not hang ravioli."
