Again, rather than paying businesses to stay closed we're apparently turning a blind eye in communities where they are setting up quasi-indoor environments outdoors to circumvent the indoor limitations they agreed to operate under.

Eventually there will be a cluster outbreak associated with an outdoor tent and everyone will look around and wonder how it happened.

Heard a good quote from the county judge in El Paso last night, he said 'instead of trying to maximize the economy and minimize the effect of the virus on people's lives, we should be trying to maximize people's lives and minimizing the effect of the virus on the economy'.

That's pretty good. The variant I've heard/seen is that we can always recover the economy. We can't recover lives.

You are seeing the first stages of a CDC being permitted to do their jobs.
And last stages as the people responsible are fired or reassigned to Alaska.

And the sad thing is that because so much disinformation and distrust has been sown by the administration for months I suspect that too many people will just go about their mask free business this Thanksgiving.

What gets me is the cowardice. They're quick to disenfranchise voters, blast out baseless accusations of fraud, refuse to cooperate in any way with the transition, etc. behind closed doors. But the second they are confronted they scurry away like frightened rats. Bunch of f-ing snowflakes.

Driving home from an increasing empty office yesterday at passed by several bars. They had the wedding tents set up outside but most people were inside, seated at tables. How, when indoor dining is shut down? There were one or two windows opened, apparently making it outdoor dining.

I did see one couple outside a noodle shop seated at an uncovered table enjoying a meal in winter coats and scarves. I wanted to stop and pay for their food but no parking - all the bar patrons.

When a vaccine does come out I wish we could prioritize it so health care and first responders get it along with vulnerable populations, then teachers, restaurant workers, delivery and warehouse workers, then the rest of the people who practice social distancing and mask wearing.

Everyone else who scoffed at masks, denied the existence of the virus, held big parties and gatherings can go to the back of the line. Fuck 'em.

Of course, if we really wanted to get a handle on the virus quickly, people that do all these things are probably the ones we want to give the vaccine to first...

Now that it's public, I can share the plan for NJ with the hopes that other states are gearing up for similar roll-out and perhaps offer some HOPE.
New Jersey could get about 130,000 doses of Pfizer’s new coronavirus vaccine by Christmas and up to 460,000 total doses for vaccinations by January, with health care workers and the most vulnerable as the top priority, if emergency approvals are granted, Gov. Phil Murphy and state health officials said Friday.

...

There will be a three-phase distribution of the vaccines. Initial doses will go to vulnerable residents, such as those over 65 and with pre-existing conditions, and 650,00 health care workers in the state — including staff at hospitals, community health centers, doctors, pharmacies, and home health care workers.

It will also include staff and residents of longterm care facilities, where more than 7,000 people have died in the state of coronavirus complications.
Just to fix an error:
The Pfizer vaccine will be two doses 21 days apart and Modern two doses 28 weeks apart.
Moderna vaccine is two doses 28 days apart.

So realistically, anyone being vaccinated should expect about 1.5 months from time of initial vaccination to being fully immunized. Here's where it gets dicey:
If New Jersey wants to meet its vaccine goal, about 3,200 people a day five days every week in each of the state’s 21 counties would need to be vaccinated, Persichilli said last month.

By comparison, about 50% of New Jersey’s population receives the flu vaccine, and a little more than 70% of those are children, she said.
I am not confident there's going to be vaccine acceptance. However, I am quite curious to see what employers do to require it...

Also note that # vaccinated = doses ÷ 2.

So if you vaccinate health workers first, you'd get less than half of them done by the end of January in NJ, with no one else.

I could easily see my employer requiring it if legally able to do so and I could also easily see there being some resistance.

*Cue AC/DC's Hell's Bells*

Large crowds and long lines were seen at O'Hare International Airport Friday as travelers prepared to depart Chicago ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Photos showed people lined up in terminals, many within 6 feet with little social distancing in effect.

Parody account aside, the crack elite legal team around Giuliani is now in quarantine because Rudy's son (a Trump aide who has been with them for the press conferences and such) has tested positive.

Jenna Ellis said today that she and Rudy had negative tests. It's unclear what that means for anyone else involved.
