Yeah, I'm waiting to see if they can touch the one who gave Rudy his marching orders. Without knowing exactly what he's being investigated for, it's hard to say whether trump is directly culpable...yet hard to imagine that he isn't.

God damn. I dream of witnesses like this. I guess that's the depth of cooperation you get from people if you're investigating someone who tried to help Russia dominate your country.

The Paul Manaforts and Roger Stones who were playing with Moscow are old hands at the game. They probably took pains to insulate Trump, and they no doubt went back and scrubbed everything they could when they realized that a stone-cold idiot like DonJr. was in the loop.

Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
Should I be amazed that Trump is already on the TV talking about it?
“Rudy Giuliani is a great patriot. He just loves this country, and they raid his apartment,” Trump told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria” early Thursday.
“It’s like so unfair and…it’s like a double standard like I don’t think anybody’s ever seen before,” he continued. “It’s very, very unfair. Rudy is a patriot who loves this country.”
“I don’t know what they’re looking for or what they’re doing,” Trump said. “They say it had to do with filings of various papers and lobbying files. Well, did Hunter [Biden] file? Did [President] Biden file? Because they did a lot of work with other countries. To the best of everyone’s knowledge, they didn’t file.”
“It’s a very, very unfair situation,” he said. “It is so terrible when you see the things going on in our country with the corruption and the problems and then they go after Rudy Giuliani. It’s very said, actually.”

What does is that even supposed to mean? He has the direct and indirect objects never identified from his thoughts that are somewhere out in the space of his dementia.“It’s like so unfair and…it’s like a double standard like I don’t think anybody’s ever seen before,”
I will then follow this statement by telling you I know I exactly what they are looking for and what they are doing (whether i do know or not, meh) and then complain that about it not being done to Biden and then throw in conjecture. I will then close with my signature blaming others actions as doing exactly the sorts of things I do.“I don’t know what they’re looking for or what they’re doing,”
I was so happy to not hear from that piece of shit for months but I'm in Post Traumatic Distress. It literally takes less than 10 sentences from him to set me off.

Just seeing his face makes me want to smash my tv. I seriously will never understand his cult of followers. I pray that they don't get a second rising as then I'll probably just totally lose my mind.

Nice. And I'm totally not joking. If the goal is to point at me as a snowflake, his cult of personality has succeeded. I've been mostly fine for months now after years of nearly daily increased stress. Two things will raise my blood pressure and make upset in ways I don't understand myself. Bringing up 1/6. The 45th president of the US saying.... anything, I guess. He could try to test my assumption by saying something a reasonable human would say. But I honestly don't think he's capable.

Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
So I was watching old boxing videos from the 80s and 90s, and I would swear that Trump is often heard in the background as a commentator. Was he into the boxing scene at some point? His name is certainly visible in a lot of those fights, presumably because they're taking place in his hotels.
Anyway, it was a good test of my own TDS. Trump was the first President that I simply could not STAND to listen to. I would have to kill NPR when he came on. I still get a slight tick when I hear what I'm almost certain is his voice on those old videos.

This reminds me of the time I had to appear in small claims court (no lawyers allowed) to represent an HOA that was being sued. When I told the judge the HOA was acting on advice of legal counsel, he laughed at me.

All he has to do is stall until 2024. Win again and then ruin the world to save his own ass. Sadly I'm sure that is exactly his plan.

The power of incumbency is very, VERY strong. If Biden has an even half-way successful term, he'll be all but a shoe-in for re-election.
If Biden doesn't run, things get much more interesting.

I think it may be close (all elections are these days), but I'd still bet on Biden beating Trump in 2024. He's got the incumbency on his side, will have a higher approval rating than Trump ever dreamed of, and won't have to convince pissed off progressives to vote. He'll be a known rather than an unknown, and he'll almost assuredly sway independents who were on the fence on 2020.
Trump will have the stench of a political loser around him, and a lot of people, after four years of peace, will realize they don't want that drama in their life anymore.

I like you're version a lot better than what I think. I tend to sway more negative if nobody noticed.

The full on socialist move would be for Biden to run in 2024, beat Florida Man, then resign for "health" reasons. Then appoint AOC as VP for a Harris life insurance policy.

Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
I endorse this message. Remember that the last time he ran, trump lost the presidency AND the Senate...and that was before 1/6, and whatever investigations (on topic!) are still going to taint him going forward. Florida Man's fan base is shrinking, not growing.YellowKing wrote: Thu Apr 29, 2021 4:52 pm I think it may be close (all elections are these days), but I'd still bet on Biden beating Trump in 2024. This presupposes a reasonably successful Biden presidency and a fair election. The GOP still has the better part of four years to work against both of those things.

Yeah, I don't believe this for a second. This is a justification for knowingly participating in the same kind of foreign disinformation op that got Trump elected the first time.4. Ron Johnson in his own—self-incriminating—words:
“I suspected that the briefing was being given to be used at some future date for the purpose that it is now being used: to offer the biased media an opportunity to falsely accuse me of being a tool of Russia despite warnings.”
Johnson is on the Committees for Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs. He is plenty well informed on these things.

Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
News reports today that the NYAG's investigation of the Trump Organization (and Trump) is now explicitly a criminal investigation.
I think this is right - government officials need to better spread public awareness about there being a real chance of a Trump indictment. It's not how prosecutors are supposed to work in some ways, but the more that any charges seem like a bolt out of the blue, the easier it's going to be for Trump to shape the narrative.
It's also why time matters. Any indictment needs to happen before the next presidential primaries start in earnest. God help us if there's an indictment of Trump at a point after he starts campaigning (assuming he runs again).

Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
I'm pretty sure nothing short of Bob Woodward-level tapes for Trump and the 1/6 investigation are going to be needed in order to move the needle on either. Actual phone recordings of Trump (and others) doing crimes or admitting to knowing they were doing crimes.
