This thread is a great example of how the NFL is shrinking. It's Sunday night and no one has posted today.

Anyway, nothing to see here. Just a normal chop block to the knee.

Were the post-season to start today, the Lions have a first-round bye.

The Lions have 3 tough games left, so there is still time to avert the apocalypse, if they lose all three.

Lions have one of the hardest schedules left, while the Viks and Pack have among the easiest. The good news is that they play each other so one of them won't win out. The bad news is they play each other, so that puts one of the closer to winning out...

Our destiny is in our own finger dislocated hands, which is nice, but recent history shows us we let the Pack take the division on week 17. It's really hard to get past the baggage of the emotions tied to the team's history, even when they are slapping you in the face with hard fought exceeding of expectations time and time again.

Still, while America may not be watching, I am and that's been a rarity in recent years. There's been a consistently interesting and even exciting product for the first time since the beginning of Schwartz' tenure.

The Lions can take care of business by beating the Pack in the last game of the season. Do that and the other games do not matter. I also think this team has been battle tested enough this season that any emotional baggage that remains from GB dominating them in the past is very minor. Caldwell will make absolutely sure these guys understand that they are not those other teams from Detroit's past. They have their own identity and what has happened in the past dictates nothing. Of course, that all goes out the window if GB comes in and hits us hard early.
If Detroit wins any of the next 3 games, they are in over the Vikings so since we have the tiebreaker with the Vikings, the Vikes beating the Pack would be more advantageous for Detroit. Still Detroit can not afford to go 0-3 these next 3 games. They need to get one win somewhere in there.

I just want to say to those who say Lions fans shouldnt bitch about refereeing in NFL games, to look at the hands to the face call against Detroit's O-lineman Glasgow. Talk about a bullshit call! The refs killed a nice drive by screwing up the call against the Lions, again.

Now refs are human and mistakes are made but this should be able to be overturned as clearly the ref got confused and penalized the wrong team/player!

They cited the wrong player. Happens all the time.

However, that still picture doesn't show what happens next. Since he apparently resisted letting his head pop off, perhaps he did put his hands in the defender's face!

Oh for the most part I dont either. Its actually kind of become a badge of honor for the Lions with these kinds of things. Still it begs the question as to why, with the tech available and the very clear evidence that the ref screwed up and called the penalty on the wrong team, that nothing can be done about it, by rule. I had no problem overall with the reffing of the game. The refs do get it right most of the time but this one was kind of ridiculous. It killed a 20 yd run, ended a nice drive and changed the game. Like I said, refs are human but why cant a mistake like this be corrected?

Very rude - one more game and he could have had the record (for most losses)! Smart of him to sign that extension earlier in the year.

Leave it to Lions fans to bitch about the reffing in a game where their opponents were penalized 11 times for 139 calls. :P Southeast Michigan football fans (I'm including U of M fans here) are really among the whiniest out there when it comes to penalties.

Seriously, though, that was pretty egregious (and funny). Fortunately for the Lions, the Bears overall incompetence made it moot. (Fortunately for the rest of the league, too, so we don't have hear about how the refs costs them this game for the next ten years.)

Only 535,000 acres? It's not like he bought the King Ranch at 825,000 acres.

The funny thing is if you watch the video, with that pair on the right youre referring to, the Bears player eventually gets the facemask of the Lions player on that play. And no #60 never commits a foul on that play. And yes they often cite the wrong player on the same team but they do not often cite the wrong team. Anyway I posted the whole thing because I found it more amusing than anything, in a kind of business as usual kind of way. Although, to be honest, when I saw it live while watching the game I was less amused!

I could see him leaving for the chance at another Superbowl championship with the right control. But I don't see him screwing his Alma Mater to do it, especially when he is making nearly $10 million a year in incentives plus endorsements and he is wrapped up for like five more years. What happens when you walk away from a commitment to another half a decade?

I would be shocked if Harbaugh left Michigan for the pros. He already made that move, took the 9er's almost all the way and that didnt work out, mostly due to conflicts on control. He has exactly what he wants at Michigan, why leave? I think he will be Michigan's version of Nick Saban. They will throw buckets of money at him and he will stay put.

I wouldn't be shocked (in fact, I think it's reasonably likely) for Harbaugh to go back to the NFL eventually, though it's a little soon for him to do so now. He hasn't been at Michigan for long and hasn't won any titles yet, so it would be bit of a stain on his reputation / legacy to jump ship now.

The opportunity to fuck with the 49ers regularly has to be awfully tempting, though. God, dumping Harbaugh has to be one of the Top 10 dumbest moves for a franchise in recent pro sports history.

OK, then what? How about, say, party invitations?

Super Bowl - about 5 party invites annually.
Whogivesafuck Bowl - Approximately 0, +/- 0, invites per year.
