Well that's a bummer. RIP

Oddly, while I knew the name immediately, the face wasn't as familiar. Though I'm sure I've seen him in a lot of stuff. I definitely remember the Kill Bill appearance.

I think it was season 2 of the Joe Bob Brigg's Last Drive In show on Shudder that featured Chiba in a VERY obscure Japanese action film called Wolf Guy that I was reminded that no matter how crappy the material was, Chiba was always worth watching.

...and Wolf Guy is pretty much the epitome of crap. DO NOT watch it if by some VERY slight chance you come across it.

I looked him up and I do remember him as the boss bad guy in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift . I didn't know who he was then though. Im sure Ive seen him in some old martial arts movie I would have watched in the 70s or 80s.

A big name in country music is gone.

According to Billboard, country music singer and songwriter Tom T. Hall—writer of Jeannie C. Riley’s “Harper Valley P.T.A.” and singer of his own hit “I Love”—has died. Hall, who was nicknamed “The Storyteller,” was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2019 and the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2008, was 85.

Charlie Watts, drummer for the Stones has died.

Definitely a long career. He always reminded me of John Waters for some reason.

Just read that - so sad. Glad I got to see him and the Stones at Gillette not too long before the pandemic. No indication yet of the cause of death, though it's presumably linked to whatever it is that led to his hospitalization and unspecified medical procedure a few weeks ago.

Had just heard he was not going on tour with them to recover from something. Didn't know it was so bad. But they are old now days. Im surprised when I see them or other old timer bands where they are still alive with their lifestyles. RIP.

People I think are old but didn't know they were THAT old always strikes me like I should know better. I mean William Shatner and Clint Eastwood are both 91.

Ed Asner died.
I loved his role in MTM and a followup where he was a newspaper editor in LA but didn't care for the rest of his stuff. None the less I liked him.

My God that guy has been a part of my life since I was little. I actually once thought he had died in the 90s. Then I came to sorta think he'd never die. :) Such a great actor both in person and just voice work. Amazing man. When you heard him you knew instantly who it was. He will be missed. Thanks for the memories and some bright points in my life of stored consciousness.

Willard Scott, TV’s Clown Prince of Sun and Showers, Is Dead at 87

Goodbye Willard. I wish you'd made it to 100 to have your photo on a Today cup and be read aloud. Safe voyages sir.
Mr. Scott, who played both Bozo the Clown and the original Ronald McDonald on television, was a longtime weather forecaster on the “Today” show who emphasized showmanship over science.

His turn as Ronald was perhaps scarier than his turn as Bozo.
