That's sort of the point though, right? He is playing to the audience in front of him. This has nothing to do with winning a national election. It probably would only slightly represent what his national election strategy would be. The importance here IMO is listening to the rhetoric because it represents what appeals to the hardcore base. They are the GOP's radicalization early adopters. It usually informs us the direction the rest of the party is moving towards. We unfortunately have to assume the majority of the GOP will generally accept it over time. There still doesn't seem to be a bottom. The telling part is when they realized their very illegal beat down was being recorded. Their reaction is all I needed to see to know they knew they were in trouble. At the very least the one smashing the man's head into the concrete needs to be arrested and run out of law enforcement. He is a vicious thug that has no place in a position of public trust.
