Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment. The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery.

Sadly we have to postpone three upcoming headline shows planned for this week in Dallas on Tuesday 6/11, Woodlands on Wednesday 6/12, and New Orleans on Thursday 6/13. All dates will be rescheduled and will be announced as soon as we can; all tickets for this week’s events will be honoured at their rescheduled dates. We have no plans to cancel or postpone any other appearances along this current tour.

We’re all wishing Ted a speedy recovery.

TMBG plays Portland Thursday and it will be the first show of theirs I've skipped in a long time.

Went to see David Byrne and St. Vincent in Asheville, NC, last night at the US Cellular Center. It was one of the most pleasant concert experiences I've had. The 2-hour show was a 10/10, with fantastically quirky choreography and lighting and as many as 12 people playing at once, eight of them brass. Security was zero-tolerance and less than 1% of the crowd were acting trashed even by the end. The man knows what performance is about. And it's maybe the only time I've seen a theremin played live (one solo, with both stars throwing punches and kicks at it). Set list is below. All songs were performed with both stars on stage, but I've marked whose songs are whose.

Dang. I would have loved to have been there. If I had known there would be that much brass, I WOULD have been. Asheville is not that far for me.

I have never heard of St Vincent though.

Also, if you like David Byrne, please check out a band called Bell X-1. The sound is very...Byrney, but original enough to be great on its own.

Getting tickets to see Rush next Friday. Expensive as hell, but should be a blast.

Saw Devo two weeks ago in Golden Gate Park. We almost decided not to go since we were late, but went it any way. That was a LOT of fun.

Probably will go again next weekend to see Sara Bareilles. Loved her in a concert video awhile back and the price is right at free...

What does "security was zero-tolerance" mean? They didn't put up with any BS and ejected people for any reason?

Yeah. They kept aisles clear, and I saw one guy bounce like a tard in front of people and he was shunted out of the exit and locked out in 5 seconds. And they cleared the building afterwards so fast that I had to ask permission to use the bathroom first. I liked it that way.

Seeing Barenaked Ladies, Guster and Big Head Todd and the Monsters at Red Rocks this Wednesday. Love the venue, hope the weather is nice.

We were hoping to have made it out by Bonnaroo this weekend. But it is with sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of our scheduled performances at both Bonnaroo and Telluride Festivals, and our show at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, KS.

Based on the tour list, they're off the continent until August 2nd, and end the current scheduled dates on September 14th.

Yeah, kinda bummed because the rest of the tour it's Ben Folds Five instead of BHT and I'd rather see Ben Folds. But BHT is kind of a Boulder area institution.

For a Zac Brown Band show, I was expecting top notch musicianship. We got that, and they all brought their "A" game on Friday night. What I wasn't expecting was metal. I recognized the intro to "Enter Sandman" as soon as I heard it, and I was trying to figure how they were going to weave that into one of their songs. They didn't; they simply rocked that song as hard as Metallica ever has. The only difference was the lead guitar part was played on the fiddle! They were half way through the guitar solo before I realized it was really a fiddle solo.

These guys are easily one of the most versatile bands playing today.

Google tells me that Brianna is a local girl who is blind. She met her favorite band last year and has sung this song with Zac at the Charlotte and Greensboro shows as well.

Junior Brown is coming to Greenville, SC, so it's time to see him again. Well, in December anyway. Dang, that's a long time from now.

Can't believe that dude is still alive (OD, liver failure, etc)! I saw him quite a bit in college when he used to come to Columbia. Always loved his shows.

Macklemore will be in Atlanta in November. I didn't go last year but I haven't decided on this one yet.

Big Country - yes, that band. playing a teeny venue here. i think there's ... maybe one original member left? Mike Peters (of The Alarm) on vocals, and the bassist just retired and the slot was taken over by the guy from Simple Minds... so they're on version 3.0 of the lineup now. i'm interested in hearing the new album.

Rush tonight at 1st Midwest Amphitheater. Can't wait. Been 10 years since I've last seen them, and they were my first concert as a teenager.

Aerosmith were my first major concert as I teenager. I absolutely loved it. It's been over 20 years since I've last seen them and I don't think I could sit through any of their contemporary shows. They pretty much turned their backs on me after Pump so I turned my back on them. Even that album showed signs that would never be my band again.

Concert was great. Ears are still ringing because I forgot my ear plugs. Encore was worth the price of admission alone.

Oh....and this was from last night.......awesome

No covers. First half of the concert was pretty much them going through their mid-years catalog, with a couple of fan favorites to get the show going. After intermission, they did most of Clockwork Angels (which I really enjoyed...first new Rush album I've purchased since Grace Under Pressure.) Then closed out the show with the big fan favorites. The encore alone was worth the price of admission. And the Stanley Cup thing was a lot of fun, the boys were obviously enjoying it. They started by having a couple of roadies in costume bring out a roadie case on wheels, and they introduced their special guest...Lord Stanley's Cup. Place went bonkers, and then the roadies pulled out a miniature Stanley Cup. Everybody started laughing, and then they brought out the real thing, carried by a Blackhawk (don't know who, don't follow hockey enough to be able to recognize him.)

A great night.

Huh? I'm pretty sure they never do live covers except for the R:30 Anniversary tour of the cover album Feedback which featured 8 cover songs that had a profound impact on their music. I've seen every tour since Signals in the early 80s and don't recall any covers at all other than Feedback/R:30.

Drummer Neil Peart, in the album’s liner notes, explains, "It was April of 2004, but Geddy, Alex, and I were channeling back to 1966 and 1967, when we were thirteen- and fourteen-year-old beginners. We thought it would be a fitting symbol to commemorate our thirty years together if we returned to our roots and paid tribute to those we had learned from and were inspired by. We thought we might record some of the songs we used to listen to, the ones we painstakingly learned the chords, notes, and drum parts for, and even played in our earliest bands. The tracks on this collection are songs we liked from the era that we thought we could ‘cover’ effectively (meaning not too many backing vocals), and have some fun with. The music celebrates a good time in our lives, and we had a good time celebrating it."

Thats the last tour I saw them on. I get the concept of doing the covers, but....IT"S RUSH.

The time spent on the covers meant that other songs of theirs were not played.
I would have rathered they dug deeper into their own catalouge than do a handful of covers. It was their 30th anniversary as a band, after all.

I must say though Feedback is a great selection of covers. Excellent selection of 60's rock.

The live R30 Overture is one of my favorite Rush live moments. Music starts at 2:57.

Jimmy Buffet is coming to Phoenix, and since tlr is a big Parrothead I guess that means we're going. It also means boarding the dogs for the night and taking a hotel room, in addition to $90 for a couple of nosebleed seats.

I don't mind him, but I'm certainly not a fan and I can think of a lot of other people I'd rather blow a couple of hundred on for tickets.

Seats? There's no beer-soaked lawn? What kind of Buffet concert is that?

Apparently they remodeled Northerly Island where Buffet played here last weekend and it was such a mud pit that they offered free tickets to those who had to wallow in it.

Tomorrow, Styx is playing at Naperville Ribfest, we might go see them. I saw them many times in the past, but my wife never has. Unlike the massively expensive Bon Jovi concert that she can't wait to see next week, she is rather ambivalent towards this one and we might both decide it's not worth dealing with the crowds.
