Game Concept: A mix of mystery and strategy where players are either a bachelorette or one of the serial killers, divided into three types.

Winning Conditions and Teams:

Bachelorette Winning Condition

The Bachelorette's objective: to successfully identify the identity and role of every player, both living and dead and thereby winning the game.

Initial Privacy: At the beginning of the game, the Bachelorette's primary objective is to correctly identify each player in the game along with their specific roles. Each night, she privately sends her guesses to the moderator. These guesses include both the identity of the player and their suspected role. The moderator then announces in the main game thread the number of correct and incorrect guesses made by the Bachelorette, without revealing which guesses are accurate.

Public Exposure: If the Bachelorette is exposed through the day vote (if she receives the majority of votes during the Day Phase) there is a significant shift in her role. From this point, all of her guesses are made publicly in the main game thread. The moderator then announces in the main game thread the number of correct and incorrect guesses made by the Bachelorette, without revealing which guesses are accurate.

Attack's Against the Bachelorette: If the Bachelorette is targeted for an attack at night, the attack automatically fails, and her identity remains concealed. The attacking player receives a generic failure message, similar to what they would receive if their target was protected by a power like Invisibility, Misdirection, or Guardian Angel.

Serial Killers Winning Condition

The primary objective for each killer team is to eliminate all members of the other two killer teams. The killer teams must achieve their objective before the Bachelorette correctly guesses all players and their roles. If the Bachelorette manages to identify everyone correctly before a team has eliminated its rivals, the Bachelorette wins.

Serial Killer Teams and Roles:

• The Shadow Stalkers: The Shadow Stalkers are masters of stealth and subterfuge. They move silently and unseen, blending into their surroundings with ease. These killers are experts at evasion, making them nearly impossible to track. They strike from the shadows, leaving no trace behind. Their approach is methodical and calculated, preferring to observe and plan before making their move. In the game, they excel at gathering information covertly and avoiding detection.
  • Freddy Krueger - from "A Nightmare on Elm Street": Known for his ability to attack in dreams, making him elusive and terrifying.
  • Hannibal Lecter - from "Silence of the Lambs": His intelligence and cunning make him a master at manipulation and staying hidden in plain sight.
  • Invisible Man - from the novel "The Invisible Man" by H.G. Wells: Literally invisible, symbolizing the ultimate stealth and evasion.
  The Mind Dismembers: The Mind Dismembers are cerebral and cunning, using their intelligence and psychological prowess to manipulate others. They are adept at understanding human behavior and using this knowledge to their advantage. These killers are charismatic and persuasive, able to bend others to their will with ease. Their attacks are not physical but mental, breaking down their targets through fear and manipulation. In the game, they are strategic planners, always thinking several steps ahead of their opponents.
  • Norman Bates - from "Psycho": His dual personality and charm make him a fitting example of psychological manipulation.
  • John Doe - from "Se7en": His methodical and meticulous planning reflect a killer who manipulates situations to his advantage.
  • Tom Ripley - from "The Talented Mr. Ripley" novel: His ability to impersonate and manipulate others fits well with the theme of deception.
  The Savage Brutes: The Savage Brutes embody raw power and aggression. They rely on physical strength and intimidation to overpower their victims. Unstoppable and relentless, they strike fear into the hearts of others. These killers are less about stealth and more about making a bold statement with their actions. They are the embodiment of physical threat, using brute force rather than cunning or stealth to achieve their goals. In the game, they are the powerhouse, capable of direct and decisive action, often disrupting the plans of others through sheer force.
  • Leatherface - from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre": Known for his brute force and relentless nature.
  • Jason Voorhees - from "Friday the 13th": A classic example of a powerful and seemingly unstoppable killer.
  • Jack Torrance - from "The Shining" novel and movie: His descent into madness and subsequent violent rampage illustrates raw, uncontrolled aggression.
  Team Dynamics - Rock-Paper-Scissors Mechanism:
  
  Each team operates within a rock-paper-scissors dynamic, determining their interactions with other teams.
  • Attacking a Weaker Team: When a team attacks a member of a weaker team (as per the rock-paper-scissors hierarchy), they successfully eliminate their target.
  • Attacking a Stronger Team: If a team attacks a member of a stronger team, the attacker is eliminated instead.
  • Attacking a Same Team Member: When a team member attacks another member of their own team, they do not eliminate them. Instead, the attacker learns the target's identity and role. The target will know they were attacked but will not learn the identity of their attacker.
  Each Groups Strengths and Weaknesses:
  
  The Shadow Stalkers:
  • Strong Against The Mind Menders: Their stealth and elusiveness make it hard for the Mind Menders to manipulate or deceive them. The Shadow Stalkers can slip past the Mind Menders' psychological traps and strike when least expected.
  • Weak Against The Savage Brutes: Their subtlety and reliance on evasion are less effective against the brute force and raw aggression of the Savage Brutes, who can overpower them with sheer physical strength.
  The Mind Menders:
  • Strong Against The Savage Brutes: They can outsmart and manipulate the Savage Brutes, who rely more on physical power than cunning. The Mind Menders can set traps and orchestrate scenarios that turn the Brutes' strength against them.
  • Weak Against The Shadow Stalkers: Their manipulative tactics are less effective on the elusive and secretive Shadow Stalkers, who operate from the shadows and are less susceptible to psychological warfare.
  The Savage Brutes:
  • Strong Against The Shadow Stalkers: Their overwhelming strength and direct approach can break through the stealth and evasion tactics of the Shadow Stalkers. They can corner and overpower the Stalkers, nullifying their advantage of stealth.
  • Weak Against The Mind Menders: Lacking subtlety, the Savage Brutes are susceptible to the Mind Menders' manipulative and strategic planning. They can be easily lured into traps or deceived into making mistakes.
  
  
  Adjustment When One Team is Eliminated
  
  If any one of the teams (The Shadow Stalkers, The Mind Menders, or The Savage Brutes) is completely eliminated the following adjustments are made to the Rock-Paper-Scissors Mechanism:
  
  • Disabling Rock-Paper-Scissors Mechanism: If any one of the teams (The Shadow Stalkers, The Mind Menders, or The Savage Brutes) is completely eliminated, the rock-paper-scissors mechanism is disabled.
  • Direct Eliminations Enabled: Once the mechanism is disabled, remaining teams can kill members of the other team without limitations. This means teams are no longer restricted by the hierarchy of stronger or weaker teams.
  • Risk for Intra-Team Attacks: If a team member attacks another member of their own team after the mechanism is disabled, the attacked team member is eliminated.
  
  Serial Killers Powers:
  
  Each killer team (The Shadow Stalkers, The Mind Dismembers, The Savage Brutes) will be assigned the following three powers randomly, ensuring that each team has the same powers available to them:
  
  • Invisibility: For one night, a player becomes invisible, making them immune to attacks or targeting by other players. This power allows for strategic defense or setting up future moves without the risk of being eliminated. (One Use Only)
  • Misdirection: A player can redirect any action targeted at them to another player for one night. This includes attacks or any special abilities used by others. (One Use Only)
  • Insight: A player can choose to learn the role of another player. (One Use Only)

Game Phases:

Day Phase

• During the Day Phase, each player votes for who they want to go on a date with the Bachelorette. The player with the most votes is chosen for the date night.
• If the Bachelorette Gets Majority Votes the Bachelorette gets the most votes, she is revealed as the Bachelorette to everyone. There will be no Date Night. The game moves to the Night Phase immediately. Once the Bachelorette is exposed, players cannot vote for the Bachelorette in future Day Phases.

Date Night Phase

• At the end of each day phase, the player with the most votes goes on a date with the Bachelorette.
• The chosen player, referred to as the "date", is immune from any killer's attack or powers for that night.
• The chosen player's role will be secretly revealed to the Bachelorette.
• Both the bachelorette and the date can simultaneously exchange one secret message each during the night. This can be used to share strategies, suspicions, or form alliances.
• After the secret messages are exchanged and read, the bachelorette has the option to grant the date one of the following special powers (each power can only be granted once throughout the game):
  • Truth Serum: A one-time-use power exercised at any time, this power allows a player to force another player to truthfully answer one direct question about their role or action in the main game forum. The moderator will mediate disagreements.
  • Guardian Angel: A one-time-use power exercised at night, this power allows a player to protect another player from any attack or negative effect for one night.
  • Clairvoyance: A one-time-use power exercised at any time, this power allows the chosen player to learn the true role of any other player in the game.
  • Silencer: A one-time-use power exercised at night, the chosen player can mute another player for the next day phase, preventing them from speaking or voting.
  • Role Swap: A one-time-use power exercised at night, switches the roles of two other players for the following day and night cycle. The affected players are informed of their new roles and any unused powers they have, but not the identity of the player they have swapped with; their original roles are restored at the beginning of the subsequent day

• Killers choose to target a player for attack or use a special power (can not do both on the same night).

Bump. This time of year has been pretty exhausting but I have this week off so I am going to focus and finish these rules off. I hope everyone will find this set of rules interesting. I still have some details to work out with how the Bachelorette works.

In the quiet corner of a dimly lit diner, the Bachelorette sat alone, her fingers wrapped nervously around a mug of coffee. The aroma of freshly brewed beans mingled with the subtle clatter of dishes in the background. The bell above the door chimed softly as a figure entered, casting a long shadow across the checkered floor. Dr. Samuel Loomis, a detective with a reputation for intensity, approached her booth. His eyes, sharp and penetrating, scanned the room before he slid into the seat across from her.



"I'm glad you could meet me," Dr. Loomis began, his voice low and urgent. "You need to understand the gravity of what you're involved in."

The Bachelorette offered a forced smile, attempting to dispel the tension. "Chad Charming assured me that I'm completely safe on 'Love at First Slice'. It's just a game, isn't it?"

Dr. Loomis leaned forward, his features taut with seriousness. "Safe? You're in the company of some of the most dangerous individuals you could imagine. This is no ordinary game. You're in mortal danger."

The Bachelorette's smile faltered, her eyes widening in genuine surprise and fear. "I... I had no idea. I'll quit the show. I can't—"

Dr. Loomis raised a hand, signaling her to pause. "Quitting isn't the answer. I propose an alternative. Get close to these killers, learn who they truly are, and report back to me. I have access to resources, means of protection beyond what others can offer."

There was a moment's hesitation from the Bachelorette, her demeanor visibly shaken. Yet, a flicker of resolve sparked in her gaze. "Okay, I'll do it. But you have to promise to keep me safe."

Dr. Loomis nodded solemnly, a vow evident in his steely eyes. "You have my word."

Almost all powers are a one time use that can be saved for later. If given a power you can not lose it although there are ways to lose a power if someone gets it from you during a role swap and they use it.

I can see the ww game fatigue and yeah I have been pretty ambitious with the new rule sets so I am going to shelve this game until Spring 2024. I appreciate everyone responding that they have to pass. It helps to know that. I know it is a busy time of the year.

In the meantime, I will create vanilla werewolf game (with maybe some creative writing) and see how many people are interested in playing.
