I have a bunch of chores and projects that I have to start/finish on Saturday. Sunday I have a major family event taking up the first half of the day. However, I still can't completely ignore my games
Baldur's Gate is starting to wear thin on me. The candle of interest is starting to burn very low. This past Tuesday I picked up Splinter Cell CT from CompUSA for $29.99. I am really enjoying it...very much so.
I have never played a Splinter Cell game before, so there is a bit of a learning curve for me. I have a feeling that this game will be taking up most of my gaming time.
Other than that, it will be the usual games catalog with my kids: some form of Mario on the Gamecube with my two young ones and a LAN coop game of Soldiers:Heroes of WW2 with my oldest son.
I won't be able to spend any quality time with the PC until late Saturday at the earliest. The weather will be too crappy to bike ride this weekend, though.
Since my system registry bit the dust two days ago, I might be playing "Rebuild your PC starring Windows XP!" this weekend. While I seem to have recovered basic functionality by restoring a very old system hive, I don't yet know how many applications are going to need re-installation. Since it has been a few years since my last total rebuild, this is probably a good time to do it.
No, if I was, I wouldn't have a problem. The power accidently got shut off, and when I turned it back on, the system registry (and the duplicate) were corrupt (I had to run a scandisk to repair the drive once I got back into the machine). After restoring the one from the repair directory and reinstalling device drivers, the file is only half the size it originally was - so I expect a lot of stuff to be broken.
Since your starting with a fresh install I would recommend that you consider some type of hd backup or ghosting software. After you reinstall Windows and all the necessary drivers you can do a backup or take a ghost image. This way if this ever happens again you just copy over the backup.
If I find any free time this weekend, I'll continue playing Civ 2: Test of Time, which I've been playing for the past few weeks. But I'll be out of town at a wedding for most of the weekend, so I might not be able to play until Monday.
And going to install Chronicles of Riddick. I bought the GoGamer sale copy before my wedding and am just now getting time to install and play it.
Besides that, I might settle in for some WoW again. I played last night and the time flew by as always. I'm going to get my wife to sit down and play...maybe if she starts up a character I can rekindle my enjoyment.
I put together my new system last night, so I imagine that I'll play a little Doom 3 and HL2 to see what kind of frames I can pull out of it. After that, I'll probably go back to playing CivIII.
Supposed to be semi nice here this weekend so I am will be out about in the day. But come night time I will be playing World at War and maybe trying out Battle of Wesnoth. This will be the first weekend since I quit WoW, so it should be interesting (not because of the patch, but that did help encourage me).
The weekend can not come fast enough, and tonight is going to be a very long night at work.
For motivation and so Jeff V can make me look bad:
2010 Totals: Biking: 65 miles Running: 393 miles
2009 Finals: Biking: 93 miles Running: 158 miles (I know it sucked, but I had a hernia most of the year)
I'll be playing Knights of the Old Republic 2 (just finished the first area, and so far it definitely has that KOTOR magic) and a little Heretic Kingdoms as well (the combat isn't as good as I'd hoped, but the storyline is better than I'd hoped). Toss in Silent Hunter 3, Rome: Total War, or Dominions 2 when I get tired of RPGs.
Outside as much as possible on Saturday as Sunday's weather isn't supposed to be very great.
Perhaps, if I can kick the kids off the gamecube, I may play some Paper Mario 2. I got Baten Kaitos for a steal at the local game store ($20!) and I am trying to resist playing that until I can get farther in Paper Mario 2, as my attention span is low and the newest "shiny" always distracts me.
Since your starting with a fresh install I would recommend that you consider some type of hd backup or ghosting software. After you reinstall Windows and all the necessary drivers you can do a backup or take a ghost image. This way if this ever happens again you just copy over the backup.
That sounds good on paper, but in practice, it's too cumbersome to maintain. I have a Ghost image of the drive taken late last summer when I migrated drives, but restoring it would be so far out of date that I might as well start from scratch.
It's been a couple of years (4 maybe?) since I did my last total rebuild. I have 2 drives in the system, I'll probably install XP on my second drive and dual-boot for awhile. Migrating email is the most important thing - once I've successfully cleared that hurdle, the rest should be relatively painless. Games will only be installed as-needed (as opposed to the 60 or so games currently installed now), and since I'm not doing any sort of web work at the moment, I don't need to install the vast array of development and graphics apps that I had before.
Far Cry. I'm in "Control" at the moment. A friend of mine is playing it. He started playing it about a week after I did and he's a level ahead of me. I blame it on his not having kids while I do. Could be that I'm a very slow gamer.
I might be able to pass him tonight. His wife's b-day is today. I prefer to be ahead of him because he spoils info inadvertantly while we talk about it. I'm better at knowing the levels while he gets confused as to where I'm saying I'm at and ends up talking about something I haven't seen yet.
Playing through another season of MVP Baseball 2004, some SW: Battlefront with some Hoth action going down, and probably a few games of Super Smash Bros. Melee.
CoH tonight, after I finish a college paper this afternoon (I'm off early today.)
Saturday - I'll be playing the landscaping game with the wife and kids all day. I may get some gaming in after dark -- CoH if friends are on line. Otherwise, I may re-build my daughter's PC and dual boot it with WIN98 so I can run X-Com and she can run some of her older games. My Octopus Overlords bid me to install X-Com again.
Sunday is booked between church, a study/project group, and evening time with my wife.
Several 1-on-1 BFME matches with my 10 year old (great introductory RTS, btw), a little Ultima V when the television is in use, and jade empire after the kids go to bed. Since I have more than 15 classic RPGs still in my play queue, I wasn't planning on buying any new games. But Jade Empire sufficiently piqued my interest.
RPG queue:
Ultima V (currently playing)
Ultima VI
Ultima VII + serpent isle
Ultima VIII
Ultima IX
Ultima Underworlds 1
Ultimate Underworlds 2
Worlds of Ultima: Savage Empire
Worlds of Ultima: Martian Dreams
Fallout
Fallout 2
Might and Magic 6
Wizardry 8
Gothic
Gothic 2
Arcanum
Icewind Dale 2
BG 2
Temple of Elemental Evil
Morrowind expansions
NWN expansions
KOTR2
I'm playing work this weekend. But they're not full days so I'll probably be finishing the last of the SWAT4 missions and might play some SH III. Or perhaps I'll knock off more of Splinter Cell Pandoras Cube so I can uninstall it and load Splinter Cell Chaos Theory next.

Wise words of warning from Smoove B: Oh, how you all laughed when I warned you about the semen. Well, who's laughing now?
philosophist, I was reading your list thinking, "Played that...and that...and that...,etc". Some quality games on that list, for sure. As for me, Still Life, the new adventure game by the makers of Syberia, will be on my doorstep today, so I will be playing that all weekend, with some Stronghold 2 in the mix.

I am invited to spend Saturday playing a board game based on the Lord of the Rings (and no it isn't Risk), this will probably be an all day event starting in the morning and ending in hard feelings about midnight.

The nasty weather will keep me indoors here. I think it's going to be a weekend of WoW on Wisperwind, a touch of SWAT 4, and thank to Crux's AAR I'm probably going to load up X-Com.
My 2005 Royals are fighting with Chicago for last place as we head into September. I'm looking forward to calling up a few guys with the expanded September rosters and trying 'em out for next year.
And with a salary cap in place, KC is eagerly awaiting free agency.
i'll be taking U-48 of the 1st Flotille (a VIIB) on patrol in grid AM97...in the southern portion of the Irish sea, right between england and ireland. i expect a fertile hunting ground, but it's probably not going to be easy...
a part of me is tempted to try my first pass through the english channel tonight while it's still early in the war (february 1940) just for the challenge...and to shave a little time off our trip to assigned patrol. the trip around England to the north is a long one when your destination is just outside the western opening of the channel...
Have a Grand Prix Legends race Saturday morning and have to get some practice in for the race Monday night. Other than that it will be more Morrowind and I have the itch to go back and start another campaign in Victoria.
