I just saw an ad on Facebook that mentions a DuckDuckGo browser. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm dubious to install it without some kind of OO opinions.

Hmm, don't like not having extensions. I'd be lost without Imgur Uploader, for one.

I've been using DDG as my search engine for a year or more now, and with Firefox as my browser I'm satisfied with my level of privacy. I know it isn't leakproof, but I'm mostly a shadow as far as Google is concerned.

Would try their browser if they support extensions, though, and if the extensions I like are compatible.

I used it many years ago for a while when it first came out, but I just couldn't get past the quirks and differences from my normal browsing experience. That could have changed by now of course.

I've been using the DuckDuckGo browser on my Mac for about a year now, mainly for YouTube since it offers a nice clean player with no ads. I don't use any extensions so it's clean and fast for most of my browsing and does a decent job suppressing ads. I think DuckDuckGo offers a paid VPN option for more security but I end up using Apple's private relay with Safari where I have access to basic VPN. I no longer use Chrome.

if i'm ever forced to use Chrome at work... i don't, i'll get Chromium instead.

typically the job utilizes Office365, so i'll download Edge browser for maximum compatibility with Outlook/Teams/Office/whatever, and i *only* use that browser for work-related tasks in the M$ sphere. if the company doesn't want their usage data siphoned up by the browser provider, that's on them to prevent. otherwise i'll use Brave as my daily work-related browser for everything else (and Firefox for my personal use).
