apnews.com wrote:BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — Donald Trump was whisked off the stage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania after apparent gunshots rang through the crowd.
Trump was showing off a chart of border crossing numbers when bangs started ringing through the crowd. Trump could be seen reaching with his right hand toward his neck. There appeared to be blood on his face.
He quickly ducked behind the riser as agents from his protective detail rushed the stage and screams rang out from the crowd. The bangs continued as agents tended to him on stage.
The crowd cheered as he got back up and pumped his fist.
His motorcade has left the venue. His condition was not immediately known.
Police began vacating the fairgrounds shortly after Trump left the stage.
The U.S. Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies did not immediately respond to messages.
Leaving Mass in Rehoboth Beach, President Joe Biden simply responded, “No,” when asked if he’d been briefed about the incident.

I mean, it's heavily NRA. So it's likely that was just their version of applause.
edit: just saw more on this. apparently he did sustain some injuries. but i'm guessing it was from throwing himself to the ground or something. all i know is he just got his vote getting photo.
Expect to see that on t-shirts, mugs, billboards and what not over the next few months.

Um, what?Police began vacating the fairgrounds shortly after Trump left the stage.
If it's thought that someone tried to assassinate a former president, wouldn't they detain everyone??

This is really weird. They let photographers run up. Nobody else is hit?
Capitalism tries for a delicate balance: It attempts to work things out so that everyone gets just enough stuff to keep them from getting violent and trying to take other people’s stuff.

If this is a legitimate assassination attempt, whatever moron did it just got Trump re-elected.

Yeah, it's over if it was really an assassination attempt. This would seal the deal, I would think.

I don't think so; if you watch the video, you see Trump immediately clutch his ear prior to going to the ground:

This is not what I wanted to see. And I don't mean an assassin missing.
It's very strange though. Trump immediately grabs his ear like he got some sort of bullet/shrapnel wound and comes up bleeding. He manages a truly fantastic photo before being rushed off the stage.
If there really was a shooter, what the hell happened? Did he miss everything? Trump is surrounded by people, so certainly somebody would have been hit by one of those many shots.
I am so hoping this was some sort of stunt. We shall see.

Let’s see how long it takes for Trump to blame Biden personally for the shooting.
In any case, it’s all over. Trump has just won.

Nothing good about this. Nothing.
Also, if things weren't bad enough for Biden before this, juxtapose that picture of Trump with blood streaming down his face and his fist in the air with almost any recent picture of Biden . . . Trump is going to cruise to victory on the back of this stupid attempted assassination. What a cluster.
And the slow (or not so slow) march to authoritarianism continues.

I feel like at some point we should learn our lesson to not overreact to something that happens 4 months before an election.
There isn’t a person in this country that wasn’t already voting for Trump that is suddenly going to vote for Trump now. This isn’t a normal election where voters are going to ebb and flow.
Every single person that votes for Trump in November was 100% voting for him yesterday.

And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

An assassination attempt feels like an entirely different animal though. Galvanizes anyone who might possibly be persuadable.

Also, pretty crazy how we have a thread dedicated to see if Biden will be on the ballot or not come November… and Trump was almost taken off today.

It's really early and rumors are usually wrong but I'm hearing that fed snipers took out one suspected shooter. Whether this is true, no idea and whether there was more than one suspect, no idea.
