If you're looking for a succinct description: Project 2025 is voter suppression, Christian Nationalism, and the Imperial Presidency all rolled into one.

Even more succinct: it's a blueprint for American fascism.

Let’s look at the policy platform which is pretty close to protect 2025.
"SEAL THE BORDER, AND STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION"
"CARRY OUT THE LARGEST DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY"
"STOP THE MIGRANT CRIME EPIDEMIC, DEMOLISH THE FOREIGN DRUG CARTELS, CRUSH GANGVIOLENCE, AND LOCK UP VIOLENT OFFENDERS"
"DEPORT PRO-HAMAS RADICALS AND MAKE OUR COLLEGE CAMPUSES SAFE AND PATRIOTIC AGAIN"
Which might be fine if they hadn’t scotched a bipartisan bill in the house that did just this. Of course voters have short memories…
"PREVENT WORLD WAR THREE, RESTORE PEACE IN EUROPE AND IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AND BUILD AGREAT IRON DOME MISSILE DEFENSE SHIELD OVER OUR ENTIRE COUNTRY -- ALL MADE IN AMERICA"
"STRENGTHEN AND MODERNIZE OUR MILITARY, MAKING IT, WITHOUT QUESTION, THE STRONGESTAND MOST POWERFUL IN THE WORLD"
Nice to see they are going to solve all the worlds problems by letting Putin beat up whoever he wants while pressuring whatever allies we have left after that to overthrow their own democracies.

We are going to strengthen our military already the world’s most powerful yet abandon our allies? I suppose we could use it to invade allies that bend over and do whatever we want already like Australia to save them from wokeism or whatever.
"BUILD THE GREATEST ECONOMY IN HISTORY" and "BRING BACK THE AMERICAN DREAM AND MAKE IT AFFORDABLE AGAIN FOR FAMILIES, YOUNG PEOPLE, AND EVERYONE"
Greatest economy for the 0.1% not the workers. And we all know what “families” means. It means no rights for women and no rights for same sex marriage. And definitely no abortion or contraception.

We saw the reaction the head of the teamsters union the biggest useful idiot of all time got for his speech. I think someone like Sarah Silverman or the Squad would have gotten a more friendly reception.
"FIGHT FOR AND PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE WITH NO CUTS, INCLUDING NO CHANGES TO THE RETIREMENT AGE"
"LARGE TAX CUTS FOR WORKERS, AND NO TAX ON TIPS!"
"END INFLATION, AND MAKE AMERICA AFFORDABLE AGAIN"
"MAKE AMERICA THE DOMINANT ENERGY PRODUCER IN THE WORLD, BY FAR!"
"STOP OUTSOURCING, AND TURN THE UNITED STATES INTO A MANUFACTURING SUPERPOWER"
"KEEP THE U.S. DOLLAR AS THE WORLD’S RESERVE CURRENCY"
According to the document, the Republican party would accomplish these goals through five pillars: slashing regulations, cutting taxes, securing fair trade deals, ensuring reliable and abundant low cost energy and championing innovation, including cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence and the space industry.

As part of the border and immigration chapters, the Republican Party also said it would ensure "our legal immigration system puts American workers first."

So basically great new laws for tech bros and billionaires while taking credit for the accomplishments of the Biden administration.

And by fair trade deals we mean forcing Denmark to handover Greenland so we can own both ends of the north west passage (the new Panama Canal) and Canada to give passage for free (while we charge of course).

Otherwise we’ll let Russia do whatever they want with them.
"DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION, OUR BILL OF RIGHTS, AND OUR FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS,INCLUDING FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF RELIGION, AND THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEARARMS"
"END THE WEAPONIZATION OF GOVERNMENT AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE"
"REBUILD OUR CITIES, INCLUDING WASHINGTON DC, MAKING THEM SAFE, CLEAN, AND BEAUTIFUL AGAIN"
"CANCEL THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE MANDATE AND CUT COSTLY AND BURDENSOME REGULATIONS"
"CUT FEDERAL FUNDING FOR ANY SCHOOL PUSHING CRITICAL RACE THEORY, RADICAL GENDERIDEOLOGY, AND OTHER INAPPROPRIATE RACIAL, SEXUAL, OR POLITICAL CONTENT ON OUR CHILDREN"
"KEEP MEN OUT OF WOMEN’S SPORTS"
"SECURE OUR ELECTIONS, INCLUDING SAME DAY VOTING, VOTER IDENTIFICATION, PAPER BALLOTS, AND PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP"
"UNITE OUR COUNTRY BY BRINGING IT TO NEW AND RECORD LEVELS OF SUCCESS"
Freedom for all through oppression of women, minorities, voter suppression, protection of obsolete industries and the destruction of the environment.

What could possibly go wrong?

I will say that I'm seeing an alarming number of friends posting obviously fake versions of Project 2025 bulletpoints on their facebook pages. It's an awful enough plan without creating fake versions. All that serves to do is diminish any attempt to point out the real crisis.

Side note: if you do go down this sordid path, I just read “The Rose Code” by Kate Quinn on my wife’s recommendation. Solid fiction book about women code breakers in WWII and fairly heavily based in reality. A little wartime romance-y but I loved it. 8/8 tentacles.

Project 2025 director steps down amid backlash from Trump
Paul Dans has stepped down as director of Project 2025, the conservative playbook for a potential second Donald Trump term, amid intense criticism, including from the former president.

Dans’ departure was confirmed in a statement to CNN by Dr. Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, the group that launched Project 2025. Before joining Heritage to lead the project, Dans served as a top official in Trump’s White House.
...
In a statement Tuesday, Trump campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita said, “President Trump’s campaign has been very clear for over a year that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign, did not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the president in any way.”

They continued, “Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign — it will not end well for you.”

And yet somehow they are all over his committees and placements and he either insinuates or is explicit with enacting their playbook. I just think he hates the idea of someone else using their voice. I suspect he literally needs to speak their ideas for them as if they were his not have them speak for him.

I understood that reference.

As for trying to privatize federal weather data, they've been laying that groundwork for a while.

One of the Audible originals I got was The Coming Storm by Michael Lewis, which covers weather, policy, and science. It is about half of The Fifth Risk book. In it, Lewis documents the attempts of the Myerseses to fight against NOAA being able to communicate directly with the public, all while profiting off of the data to which they have access as a result of taxpayer spending.

As such, I will not be utilizing any service or portal for weather that relies on AccuWeather.

Bloomberg
In 2005 a representative of AccuWeather, the commercial forecasting company, visited the office of then-U.S. Senator Rick Santorum. It might have been Joel Myers, AccuWeather’s founder, or his brother Barry Lee Myers, the company’s general counsel.
...
What Santorum does recall about the meeting is that his visitor had a gripe about the National Weather Service. The NWS was giving away forecasts on its website, radio stations, and elsewhere, when businesses such as AccuWeather charged its clients for theirs—never mind that AccuWeather relied on the service’s free data to formulate its own predictions. Santorum agreed that commercial weather companies deserved protection.
...
After the bill’s collapse, Barry, now AccuWeather’s chief executive officer, took a more conciliatory approach, proselytizing about the need for all parties involved in forecasting—the government, academics, businesses—to collaborate. Yet he remains a champion of limiting the agency’s public role, opposing its use of social media to spread warnings. “We fear that he wants to turn the weather service into a taxpayer-funded subsidiary of AccuWeather,” says Richard Hirn, attorney for the National Weather Service Employees Organization.

Myers may soon be in a position to do that. In October 2017, President Trump nominated him to be NOAA’s administrator. In December the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, which oversees the NWS, approved him on a party-line vote. “If confirmed, I think he will serve as an outstanding administrator,” Senator Patrick Toomey, a Pennsylvania Republican, said when he introduced Myers at his November confirmation hearing.
Space News
n the final hours of the 115th Congress, the Senate confirmed a new director for the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) but failed to act on a nominee for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
...
Among those nominations not taken up by the Senate is that of Barry Myers to be administrator of NOAA. Myers, the chief executive of AccuWeather, was nominated by the White House in October 2017 and favorably reported on a party-line vote by the Senate Commerce Committee in December 2017. The White House resubmitted the nomination in January 2018 to comply with a Senate rule, and the commerce committee again favorably reported it along party lines that month.
It's almost as if people are the problem.
