Fantasy Football '24 - Lassrbrains on Defense

Post by Dogstar »

NFL training camps are starting, so it must be time for me to nail down this year's fantasy league of misfits and football junkies. Last year's champs the Rocket City Lassrbrains will look to defend their title, while the Voracious Velocidraftors will try to close the deal after losing in the finale.

It currently says that active teams are: Samurai Saints (me), Bay Area Brawlers, Dirty Jersey, Disgruntled Yinzers, Madagascar Mudhogs, Grim Gronks, MD Marauders, Ohio Ohana's, Rocket City Lassrbrains, and the Voracious Velocidraftors.

This year's loser will be subject to the Waffle House (or its equivalent in your area) Challenge/Penalty. This means you have to spend twelve hours in a Waffle House. You can reduce your time by an hour for every full waffle you eat...

Draft is scheduled for Tuesday night, September 3, at 8:30pm EST. I moved it up half an hour this week due to concerns about how late it ran last year.

As always, if you can't/don't want to participate this year, please reach out via PM or post below. Additionally, if you're interested, and not yet in the league, or know someone that's interested, please PM me or post. We're currently at 10, but we could go up to 12. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, If you have ideas in terms of things you'd like me to differently, or rules change ideas, please don't hesitate to PM me as well.

If I can continue my rise from the '22 cellar at the rate of my '23 7th place finish, I will champion in '25.

I love watching the videos that people have done for fantasy football draft combines and the punishments for coming in last place... I've seen football trivia challenges that involved shots for wrong answers to actual NFL combine measures calculated into an RAS score per individual to the standard below. For punishments, I've seen everything from a 24-hour Bachelor marathon where you're not allowed to have your phone or sleep to the Waffle House Challenge shown below...

I actually watch part or all of every Lions game last year for the first time in a very long time I was interested in "my" team and therefore the league. I could rejoin this year if there is room. I'll mark off the 3rd of September. If you have room let me know. IIRC this a yahoo league and it's been so long I have no idea what my yahoo ID is, if it's still active, nor if it somehow got compromised over the years of with Yahoo being compromised more than once since I last checked.

If we can get you in, we'll get you in!

Has to feel pretty good with the level of excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the Lions. It's been a long time...

I have an event I'm hosting at 8pm, but I'm hoping to still be available to make some picks and not rely completely on auto draft.

Yeah, I ended up with a conflict tonight, so I won't be at there. Auto-draft for me. Whee?

Sorry all, I spaced and missed the draft. But actually had a fairly good draft even though one player they drafted is out for the first 4 weeks. So already using IR status. Lol

So much for Yahoo telling me I had a gold draft and nearly the best draft ever. On the bright side, it's not like I can look my bench and say, if I had just played these guys, I'd be doing so much better. Oh, wait, that's not such a bright side.

Lol, Yahoo picked all my players, and man oh man, they almost all achieved more than what the estimate was. They did draft a player I put on IR on day one, but supposedly they will be back in four weeks.

But I am looking at my players, and they are all working out well. :)

So a little better, and I am guessing that this will be the last week I can do this. Also, I could still lose, as we both still have two players to score yet.

What a suck ass weekend defending the title.

And, yes, I was picked as the best draft in another league, and ended up with 39 freaking points in it.

I had the highest score this week, but I doubt that will keep up. I know my opponet this week had a player get injured during the game, so that always sucks for them.

Good Luck everyone one. I don't keep up with this as much as I used too, so this is the only league I am in anymore. :)

I was down by 4 going into MNF with the Jets D and Aiyuk going. I barely squeaked by with the W. If the 9ers scored one more TD then I would have lost, unless it was Aiyuk who scored.

I did pretty well in the OO league at least, even with CMC being out.

Well Aiyuk had a nice would be TD but dropped it. Lesson learned? Don't hold in all training camp.

Is it bad if your kicker is the only player in double digits for points? Lol.... :)

Oh, and that's with Buffalo's defense overperforming by 18 points. My TE received no targets, Lions held my RB to 18 yards on 10 touches, and Amari Cooper has butterfingers.

Man having a browns player is brave.... I am a Browns fan, and I wouldn't take a Browns player. The team sucks, they managed to win today in spite of themselves.

I have a similar predicament...

Purdy vs Rams
Mayfield vs Denver

Purdy is out CMC and Deebo. But they are playing the Lambs
Mayfield has been on fire, but as soon as I start he'll bomb.
