Barring us getting my friends pc up and running on that Gigabyte board can someone recommend an alternative brand and model mobo?


He has a intel i5 or i7 12700 cpu
4 stix corsair vengeance 6800mhz ram

And it needs to have onboard audio and video for now.

Im thinking some ASUS board would be a good fit..a Z790 or something.

He wants it MAINLY for video editing and some gaming. Not a hardcore gamer now still like me but he would like to play new shooters and rts and such and co op games with me. He plans on using nvme m2 drives. and lots of ram. He will add a video card later and maybe a sound card.

Id like to see his budget around $150..but a bit over and any under is stuff Id like to see about too. Id max it out at say $200 for a good range.

Do all mobo standoffs and screws need to be installed for it to work?..The new mobo came with ZERO screws and I only have 6 in this house.,,..it takes 9....would missing some cause it to not have full connection?.....Im not worried about if its securely in .

I had a entire little box of screws...but of course I let him take them home yesterday to find screws he needed for something else...and he lives in a different town..so asking for him to come back up here yet again today and then tomorrow I d rather not have to do that.

Ive checked all my old boxed up motherboards and no screws. I remember after my wife died putting a lot of my pc parts in a another box for organized storage...now I cant find it lol..always the way it goes.

Found the screws!! The realized I left the heatsink bracket for the cpu on the other motherboard...lucky I caught my friend before he shipped it so he's bringing it by. Man the things u f' up when not building a pc for 24 years.
