Tyson/Paul Fight

Post by McNutt »

What an embarrassment to the sport. Mike Tyson looked every bit of his 72 years. They are using 2:00 minute rounds and wearing ridiculously big gloves.

Tyson had no jab at all. Not that he ever had one, but when he was young he made up for his lack of a jab by launching himself past his opponent's guard to land power shots. Now his legs are gone, so he has no jab and no way to get beyond Paul's reach. In rounds 2-8 Tyson didn't even try. He just stayed four feet away and took a big payday.

Why did I even watch this crap?

On the plus side Rosie Perez got to get in front of a camera for the first time in 30 years.

Not sure if you are just kidding, but he's 58.

At least two of the undercard matches were good. The highlight of the evening was definitely the Taylor/Serrano bout - those ladies were absolutely BRUTAL and made the guys look like a bunch of playground sissies. Taylor is a dirty fighting b---- and shouldn't have come anywhere near a unanimous win, but the controversy made it fun. My friends and I were absolutely SCREAMING at the judges.

The Ramos/Barrios fight was also fantastic. I thought skinny little Ramos was done early and then he pulled a Rocky to fight back to the split decision.

All in all, though, a bit of a disaster. Netflix's horrific streaming issues leading up to an absolute snoozefest of a match. Tyson spent 90% of the entire fight standing out of the way waiting for the clock while Jake Paul love tapped him with the pillows strapped to his hands.

Televised elder abuse for the profits!
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

My wife had it on for a bit, quality was awful. I'm glad I went to bed. I fast forwarded to the main event this morning and wow, that was disappointing.

I didn't watch, but my wife wanted to, but I spent half my night restarting the router (because the error message on Netflix kept saying to do it, although I told her it was not a problem with our internet) so I restarted the router a few times so she could not blame me for the issues.

Then some one said they were watching on a Firestick with no problems, so I dug out the Firestick from storage and went through 15-20 minutes of setting it up, and that did not work. Finally I told her to try the Netflix phone app, as some people were having success with it. That actual worked. Then when it was over she said, "well I just wasted some good sleep staying up for that crap".

I also wasted about an hour or more of gaming time trying to get Netflix to work for her. HUGE FAILS all around
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Hah, I was reading a couple of forums and there were a lot of people insisting that Tyson was going to wipe the floor with Paul. It was obvious to me that they had never been 58 before. :)

If you watched the Tyson training videos he looked much different than in the ring. You take a guy who built his career on knockout punches and tell him he can't hit hard and it's going to affect his game quite a bit. That fight was just a paycheck for both of them. Neither of them seemed to put much effort in. But the most disappointing thing of the night was Netflix's complete inability to stream a live event.
