We're taking a stand against booth babes...

Post by Al »

...By hiring ugly girls!
They plan on doing this not by refusing to have booth babes, but instead by hiring ten unattractive woman to work their booth.
I wonder if they used the same kind of techniques that movie and television producers use to cast "ugly girl #2" in various productions.

Agetec currently publishes games like Armored Core: Nexus, Echo Night: Beyond, Fisherman's Bass Club, and will soon be releasing their newest RPG, WILD ARMS Alter code: F.
Who the hell is Agetec again?

I hear they are also taking a stand against all the colorlul and eyecatching art used to decorate the booths. So instead they are hiring ten angry monkeys to smear their crap on white posterboard which will then be hung around their booth.

I hear that they're also taking a stand against gameplay. :P
Hence, their previous titles.

I've stood against booth babes myself and then have been not so politely asked to leave.

Hey look! Agetec is looking for attention and free publicity!
Um, Al? I think you stepped in it. It's stuck to your shoe. ;-)

I hate booth babes because they're in the way and most of them look vaguely creeped out and embarrassed. That makes me creeped out and embarrassed for them. Now, don't tell GamerMom, but I like the PR women better.

Don't tell them I said that!

Nah, your just paranoid ;) The girls do these type of jobs all the time, I've seen the same girls at E3 that I've seen at car shows, its what they do. If anything they should feel more comfortable because a lot of the people at E3 aren't as big predators as other places. There's rarely any hooting or hollering at the women, like I've seen at other shows.

I remember reading before that companies were thinking of not having booth babes because they stole too much of the attention, while its true I don't think they realize the overall positive effect of having the babes. I spend probably three times more time in a booth if there's a hot babe in there.

Some gamers really like booth babes
I ask if she's comfortable with so many guys posing with her. "It's weird when they put their arms around me," she replies, "but then I feel them shaking and I'm like, whatever, if it's so important to you . . . it's funny when guys come up to me and tell me that it's their first time touching a girl."

That makes sense. They've probably done so many photo shoots, conventions, car shows, etc., it's just a job. I can see how the more professional would see it as a role: smiling, greeting people, posing for photos. If you respect them, play along, it's cool.

Fair enough, but isn't the "trade & car show" circuit pretty much the lowest end of the modeling spectrum? In that way, I can still be embarrassed for them, can't I? Of course maybe I'm a little more embarassed for the guys who dig the booth chicks so much. . .

I thought most those girls were not that attractive. Maybe one or two. Meh.
Currently thinking of something clever.........

Ok, Al, did you make a mistake or was that a deliberate misquote for effect. The quote posted at the site is this:
They plan on doing this not by refusing to have booth babes, but instead by hiring ten woman to work their booth.
The word "unattractive" is not to be found. They go on further to say:
These women will not be hired for their looks, instead will be "just real people who enjoy video games'
I can't find "unattractive" anywhere.

Rather real girls than girls with little heart.

Not that I wouldn't hit a girl who didn't have heart, cause I would, I mean damn....

Daaaaaamnnnn.

I had the same question as Grifman.

I also couldn't help thinking "Yeah, right" when I read the second statement he quoted. I'm sure that they will still be selecting the 10 most attractive women that "enjoy video games". I really doubt that they are going to pick the 10 most unattractive ones.
