memory question

I currently have an AMD 64 3400+ w/ a radeon 9800 pro and 512mb pc 2700 ram. How great of a performance increase should I expect to see if I upgrade the memory to 1 gig? Thanks in advance.

You should see better performance in games and some in windows. I don't think you'll see a huge performance increase in either but less loading in games and more ability for multitasking in windows. I have a P4 3.0 and 1 gig at home and a P4 2.8 /512 at work and there is a difference when you open multiple windows. There's a lot less of the waiting for a second or two at home when multiple things are open.

Newer games like Doom 3 will utilize the ram more than older games. Games like BF:Vietnam will also benefit.

Thanks EvilHomer3k! I got the extra ram for a total of 1gig, and I can easily see the difference in load times and performance in Doom3! Now for Halflife 2...
