16:9 LCD HDTV, any good for PC use?
Having just received orders to Korea, it looks like I am going to be living as a bachelor for a while.
So...I am trying to build a self contained system for my consoles and my PC.
I already purchased the excellent Z-5500 speaker system which will allow all the hook-ups I need.
Now I am trying to consolidate the display. I am looking at the 19 to 26 inch range (16:9). Most models offer a vga connect for PC. Questions:
1. How well do these actually work in practice?
2. Is the quality the same as a PC dedicated LCD?
3. Can I shrink the PC screen to 4:3 for those games which don't support the wide screen resolution?
4. Any recommendations for guys that own one of these smaller HDTV LCDs?
I can take my 19 inch CRT with me but I would rather not. But I am pretty picky about losing the clarity which the PC offers on the CRT.
Thanks for the advice in advance.
Mike

My brother runs his computer through his 50 something inch DLP. It's nothing short of amazing let me tell you. Since it's such a large screen he can sit way over on his couch and have no problem reading the text on the screen. He has had some problems with certain games running on it but a bit of tweaking and he was able to get around it. Silent Hunter 3 comes to mind as a game that he had issues with. It had a fixed resolution that the tv didn't like so much. He was able to get it working though and my god it made me sad to go home to my 21 inch crt.

Capitalism tries for a delicate balance: It attempts to work things out so that everyone gets just enough stuff to keep them from getting violent and trying to take other people’s stuff.

I've been thinking about hooking my pc up to my 55'' HDTV. My video card came with component adapter. Since I don't feel like moving the pc into the living room, I need to pick up a long, probably 50', component cable, which will run a pretty penny. I found a place online that sells cheap ones for 13, but for that price I wouldn't expect the quality to be great. It might work for testing purposes, though. I can only imagine how it would be to play HL2 on a screen that big.
