Weekend Gamer:Memorial Day Weekend 5/27-5/30...what's up?

Post by Goonch »

Yeayyyyyy!!!! It's Memorial Day Weekend here in the U.S. The official start of the summer beach season down the Jersey shore and the airshows get into full swing. Next weekend, June 4th & 5th, the Blue Angels will perform at McGuire AFB.

Gaming wise I am on a racing binge. This past week I bought my new Logitech MOMO wheel & pedal set as a replacement for my aging, wornout, and broken Act-Labs Force RS. Since Act-Labs is no longer manufacturing wheels and replacement parts are very scare, I had no choice but to buy a new set. This MOMO wheels kicks ass. Much better feel than my old Force RS. My kids seem to be able to race with it much better also. My wife is very jealous of the attention the MOMO is receiving

On my agenda, some of the choices include:

Racing:
NASCAR Racing 2003 Season
NASCAR Racing 2003 Season with GTP mod
GTR demo #2
Richard Burns Rally demo

Non-racing:
Combat Mission Beyond Overlord
Splinter Cell CT
Opearation Flashpoint
Mario Party 6 (with the kids on the Gamecube)

Don't forget to honor your service men & women this weekend. It's 60 years since the end of WW2 and 30 years since the "Fall of Saigon".

It appears the weather will be passable this weekend (no rain, mid-60's), so I'll be spending much of the weekend bike riding, barbequing, and packing for my whitewater trip next week.

If I have any time to spend on gaming, I might try the newly-arrived Dragoon 2.

Well, it's a wet weekend around Houston, so I'll be indoors mostly messing with the following:

UFO: Aftermath

and

Vampire: Bloodlines (FYI, $12.98 at my local Target)

Guild Wars, probably finish Jade Empire. Some of my college buddies will be over, which strongly implies that there will be Deathrow or Dead Or Alive 3.

More time spent with Imperial Glory. Also back to Knights of Honor, and since I will be free all day Saturday I plan to use that to start learning Supreme Ruer 2010
I spent 90% of the money I made on women, booze, and drugs. The other 10% I just pissed away.

EverQuest 2, baby.

I plan on hitting 46 adventuring and 49 crafting this weekend. We just joined a great raid guild, so we're all feverishly trying to max out as fast as possible and upgrade our equipment.

About the only "alternate" gaming I'll do is if I work on my new Froglok character in EQ2.

Painting some rooms in the house, and Fate + Imperial Glory. Maybe a smattering of Cossacks 2.

YK - What is the level max. of EQ2? What class path are you planning on taking your Frog down?

Oh... as for gaming, hopefully I will get some Forza in over the 3-day.

Tonight we will be gaming with friends (our regular Fri. night activity).
Tomorrow morning we have to be at my husband's cousin's place at 8 AM (!) to help them move. The (!) is because we usually don't get home from gaming until 1 am or later, so we won't get nearly enough sleep.
Saturday evening, friends from Moorhead (next to Fargo if you're inclined to look at a map) might be dropping in. (So I have to quickly vacuum this evening before we go gaming).
Sunday we're currently planning to go see Ep. III.
We actually have Monday off and no plans. Yay! I'll probably be doing laundry and playing T2X (which I'm only about 1/2 through).

I'm sure I'll be able to fit in some more x-com. Maybe I'll even have time to try something new or something unfinished and not played in months (or years).

But mainly I'll be doing yardwork, gardening, cleaning house, repairing minor house problems, cleaning my car (inside and out).

Finally getting around to Full Spectrum Warrior, thus lowering my backlog from 214 to 213 games.

My folks are in town for the weekend, and my anniversary is on Monday, so I don't see a lot of gaming in the future for the weekend. Sad to say, because I would love to put in about 12 hours playing CoH.

It actually doesn't stand for anything. It's a recently released fan-mod for Thief2 -- 13 missions, new main character, etc. I'm really enjoying it. I can burn you a copy if you like (it's a little over 650 meg, so a big download, and I don't know how many people are still uploading the torrent).

Uh.. I don't actually own Thief 2. I'm really, really bad at stealth games. I think I made it through one level in Thief 1.

Okay, no prob Chris. Everybody likes different things. Heck, I even consider naednek a friend even though he used to come into any MW thread and run it down. He and I - if I like a game he knows he won't, and vice versa. :)

Good lord wrong forum for my Memorial Day weekend camping plans, heh sorry about that all. I had wondered why my post didn't show up in EBG, hah. Obviously I will not be here, so I have no gaming plans for the weekend.

Oh, I like Thief, and Splinter Cell, and whatnot. They're great games. I just suck so badly at them that I usually can't make it to the third mission.

Holy ... !
Thanks for reminding me! Real life has gotten in my way lately, and I'd completely forgotten I'd downloaded this. This may actually be a quiet enough weekend around here to finally figure out the mechanics of installing this. I hope it's not too arcane (install-wise). Fortunately I have both an XP and a 98 machine to run it on, so I should be able to get lucky on one of them.

I'm self-employed. That makes every day a holiday/workday, so this weekend's no different than any other. I picked up Riddick yesterday and I'm enjoying it, but I'm assuming like all modern FPS games it's pretty short so won't last the whole weekend. Once that's finished, I don't know. I've had the gaming blahs for a couple weeks now and nothing really grabs me.

Non-gaming: Saw EP III last night. Today will be spent converting the lawn tractor from snow plow to mower. I've got to spray weed killer on all the non-grass parts of my yard. I then get to tackle organizing the garage. It is still in that just-moved in state where nothing has a place. Note that I have now lived here exactly 1 year today. Also, the mother-in-laws birthday party/bbq is tomorrow afternoon.

Gaming:
After getting home from seeing EP III, I played some Republic Commando. It does feel weird to play these guys after seeing the movie. I'll be doing that and some Deus Ex: IWAR this weekend.

My plan is to finally get back into gaming. So far nothing has worked, but I have hopes this weekend. The plan-play some brothers in arms, chaos theory, and fate on PC (oh, and maybe fix the 3 month old sound issue). Then on XBOX get some Jade Empire in, and start Psychonauts (finally found 1 blockbuster with 1 copy to rent after scouring town-not a single EB even carried the PC version with 20 miles so I decided not to buy it).

Then, I would like to watch either Kicking and Screaming or The Longest Yard, catch up on some of my guilty DVD pleasures (names will not be named) and perhaps do a marathon Star Wars DVD plus second viewing of Ep. 3.

Man, rereading that makes me realize that I need to get out more often :)

Hey Shaggydoug I'm working my way through DX:IW as well! Not perfect but I'm still enjoying it. Getting in some tennis Monday if Mother Nature cooperates. Other than that not much scheduled so I hope to finish DX as I have thief 3 sitting on deck. Maybe a little more SH3 as well.
