GoGamer shipping question

Post by knob »

Anyone here ever use the "Dirt Cheap" $1.99 shipping option? How long did it take? Any bad experiences?

They have Soldiers Heroes of World War II and Operation: Flashpoint GOTY edition on their 48 hour Madness sale ($8 for Soldiers and $9 for O:FP)

I find it takes a couple of days longer but nothing painful.

I've used it and it does take several days longer than FedEx but it's well-worth it if you're in no rush. Longest delivery time: about 17 days, shortest about 7 days. Worth it for me as I'm never in a rush about games once I have 'em.

I used it a couple of weeks ago when they ran Dragoon 2 on sale. I believe I ordered it on Wednesday, May 11 and it didn't arrive until Monday, May 23. Not a big deal, since I wasn't in a hurry to play it - and aside from a quick look after installing it, I still haven't played it.

My experience abusing it 3 times is:

SHITTY SHITTY SHITTY

Slightly over 2 full calendar weeks to go from Cali to Michigan. If you're not in a hurry I guess it would be fine.

Their "dirt cheap shipping" is just USPS Media Mail. It's notoriously erratic in it's delivery time. I've personally had them take anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks.

When you receive Soldiers I think we'll be ready for some OO gaming :) Crux, Jeff, Turtle and myself all have it and play online.

Just make sure you download the latest patch and unlock the camera - play the tutorial and we're green light go :)

Also havce a read of this thread - nice tips and suggestions

I have had 2 horrible experiances with GoGamers $1.99 option. Basically it ships Media Mail, which is about 2 weeks. Figure 1-2 days per state that you are away from GoGamer. Got me, that means 2 FULL weeks. I live in Michigan, and it was a atrocious experiance.

My friend lives in NH and said it took almost a month!

Wow, They must yse Pony Express in MI because I've ordere from GG with the Dirt Cheap Shipping and I got my stuff in less than a week!

I use it at EB also, and usually get stuff in 3 to 5 Business Days..

Of course, YMMV.

I've used it twice and both times it took about 5 days to get to me. California to Alabama in 5 days not bad for media mail. I've never had media mail take longer than 10 days to reach it's destination.

What about the tracking system? How accurate is that? It's still displaying "Electronic Notification" as the last update.

When did it ship? The tracking system the USPS uses isn't up to par with the stuff FedEx uses. Check again in the Morning..

This isn't even USPS. It's Stamps.com. Shipped 3 days ago (the 31st).

Stamps.Com is a USPS Vendor. Its USPS Media Mail. I would expect the package(s) in a couple days.

I just stole the confirmation number off the URL for the STamps.com website and went to USPS and got this:

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on May 31, 2005 to expect your package for mailing. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Not that I'm in a hurry or anything. Just surprised that it might not have even actually shipped yet.

I wish everyone would adopt UPS's tracking system.

Yeah, it definitely hadn't shipped. It's just going really slow for me:

Your item was processed and left our BELL, CA facility on June 03, 2005. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I had this with another online retailer. They quoted 3 to 5 days shipping. So knowing how small the UK is and the fact the retailer was only 20 miles away from me anyway :) I thought sure thing for a max delivery of 2 days. I hadn't taken into account the cheek of the retailer in effectively then treating the item as a low priority item. Took 3 days before they even looked at it and that was only because I complained.

Speaking of gogmaer, I got a Madness Mail e-mail from them today and under PC New Releases, they have:
Singles 2: Triple Trouble $34.90
Re-live the excitement of the entire original Sacred adventure with two new characters, the Daemon and the Dwarf.
Take out the "Sacred adventure" part and you'd have an interesting and very kinky game.

I used the dirt cheap shipping when I ordered Richard Burns Rally. Ordered it on a Tuesday and received it a week later. I have used their FedEX shipping option before and I would usually receive my game 48-72 hours later.

Before you complain about the cheap shipping option, remember that it used to be the only option you had was to pay $5.00 for 48 hour fed-ex on up to three games.

They instituted the cheap shipping option to satisfy requests made on gonegold and elsewhere cheap bastards like me could take advantage of their 48 hour sales and not feel screwed by paying more for shipping than we did for the game.

That is all. Carry on.

So am I supposed to get a USPS tracking no. ? I ordered Thief Deadly Shadows yesterday and haven't gotten any such email notification.

Actually, I ordered it on the weekend, and it supposedly shipped yesterday.

Just additional info:

I just received a package from Gogamer.com using their dirt-cheap shipping option: delivery time 5 working days. This is my third Gogamer order using the low cost delivery option and I'm satisfied. Longest delivery 17 days, lowest 5 days.

I've also got stuff Eb.com with similar results. So I'll continue to use it on low-priced games that I can afford to wait for.

I just used the dirt cheap option for Thief: Deadly Shadows (11.69 total, woohoo!) and it got to me in Texas in under a week.

Honestly, even if it had taken 2 weeks I wouldn't complain. It's only 1.99.
