Porn in PC games? Good ,bad or $$$.

Post by UsulofDoom »

I Just brought GTA San Andreas. I always brows the web sites when I get a new game for mods that will in prove game play or graphics. Well I came across a patch that enables a sex game in GTA SA.

It seems that the developers created a mini sex game were Carl has intercourse with his girl friends. There is a movie showing the mini game.

Read me of mod.
With this mod you will be able to unlock the uncensored
interactive sex-games with your girlfriends in San Andreas.
Rockstar build all this stuff in the game, but decided to
disable it in their final release for unknown reasons.
And now this mod enables these sex-games again, so now you
can enjoy the full experience.
Web site

Now could this be a crime since it rated as mature and not adult? I can just see a parent walking in on little Johnny and freaking out. Now since Rockstar included the graphics in the game would it be consider their fault for little Johnny down loading the mod that unlocks it?

The ESRB rating for it is MATURE .I would think it would have to be rated ADULTS ONLY. It seems they are opening them selves up to law suits by having the content in the game.

Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language.

Titles rated AO (Adults Only) have content that should only be played by persons 18 years and older. Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.

Okay.. I'll bite.

I wouldn't think this would be an issue. Plenty of other games have had mods that might put the ESRB rating higher then what it was first rated. However if you want to go down the path that Rockstar is bad because the adult features are disabled. It then becomes an issue of how many new/edited lines of code does it take before 'fault' would somehow change from the Developer to the Modder.

In short, if you have to edit the code yourself, like in the GTA:SA example I can't see how Rockstar should be in trouble.

Two, any parent that would flip out in the scenario described above would need to be sure their kid is 17 to begin with.

Three, if parent is upset, flip out at the kid, he/she is the one that modded the game.

I don't necessarily think that sex in a game would require a rating of AO. The PS2 game God of War had a sex mini-game and I believe that game was only rated Mature.

Well, I was on the fence about what platform to pick up GTA: SA for. I'm going PC now.

I think the AO rating tends to apply to the pr0n "games" with pr0n stars and such. From the screenshots of the GTA:SA Mod, I'd say it has a long way to go before it really hits AO.

The video I saw of the scene made it look unfinished. Unless the girl is supposed to have huge black triangles under her armpits.

You can have sex in that Playboy: Mansion game and it's rated Mature, so I dont' think having sex makes a game automatically Adults Only.

If little Johnny is able to download a mod without his parent knowing what its about then he has probably discovered the internet has a whole lot of more serious porn on it than I would guess is in the GTA mod.

I'm sure there's something in the EULA to cover Rockstar's butts.

Rockstar is probably covered legally, but I'm just waiting till the major news outlets pick up on this-the battle of public opinion is a whole different deal.

Well it looks like the media just got hold of it today. Today on abc they reported the nude scenes.

They also showed a 12 year old playing it. I'm sure more will come. :D

Ugh. That sex game was sooooooo stupid. I actually turned it on and played it...like 2 times. Then I decided life was too short for that crap. Girlfriends are already 90% annoyance in GTA. The last thing you want is MORE girlfriend time.

The ONLY redeeming feature are some of the comments CJ makes while doing the deed.

"I'm not insecure...but tell me I'm great!"
/. "She climbed backwards out her
\/ window into Outside Over There."
