Gaming over wireless network

Post by Creepy_Smell »

The cable to my computer room is flaky so its either run a new cable into the room or go wireless.

I have a wireless router (Netgear WGR614 54Mbps) already and it works fine for surfing the net on my old laptop but I've never tried gaming over it on my main pc.

Online I mainly play FPS like Counterstrike, Raven Shield and UT2K4.

Assuming I get a good signal from my router, how well will FPS type games play as compared to a wired connection?

If you are using an 802.11g connection (54 MBps) and have a good signal, games should run flawlessly. 802.11b might see occasional hiccups but should still be ok.

I've been using a wireless connection for almost a year now, never had a single problem with gaming on it.
I can't imagine, even at my most inebriated, hearing a bouncer offering me an hour with a stripper for only $1,400 and thinking That sounds like a reasonable idea.-Two Sheds
