Find Me an RTS!

Post by Rincewind »

Ok guys, help me find an RTS to play, I am in the mood!

I think I own most of the biggies. I am a big fan of Warcraft 3 and TFT, but it has been difficult to get back into them after I beat them the first time-which is odd given how much I like them. Any suggestions are welcome, I am open to replaying stuff.

One thing I don't have is Rise of Nations, but I dont think I can buy it now anyways, saving money for Battlefield 2!

Thanks for the input.

I was going to recommend Rise Of Nations, but there goes that.

I will get it eventually Kelric, either in trade or when I sell some of my crap and can afford it.

Speaking of which, did you ever get DOW games going? I am patching it up and all that shit now-I had to reinstall it.

So if you can't buy a game you don't have, and since you already know the games you do have, I'm not exactly sure what we're supposed to be doing . . .

Suggest things that I might want to replay? Lesser known games I might have passed that cost 5 or 10 bucks? I mean, RON is obvious. Of course I want it, and I shouldn't have traded it. But the gold version is 30 bucks now I think, and thats a little beyond my run out and buy price right now.

THanks for attempting to be helfpul, as always.

Yeah, Fretmute and I got a few games in. I'm up for some more and will in fact go bump the post after this. So older/cheap games, huh? Here's a few.

An oldie but a goodie RTS that I had a great time with is Seven Kingdoms 2. It's original came out the same time as Age Of Empires and got no buzz. SK2 came out at the same time as AoE 2. Bad planning.

Another one you can probably find pretty cheap that I really enjoyed multiplayer with is Cossacks. 'And God said unto Kelric, 'Let there be Scots!' And there were Scots, and it was good.' If you saw me type that up, you're usually going to lose the game. I loved releasing several 120 man units of Highlanders upon my enemy.

Dungeon Keeper 2 never gets old, though that's not exactly RTS. Now I want to re-install. 8)

Hey I heard good things about Cossacks 2, but it seemed to come out when Imperial Glory did and got swallowed up. Any good? And IG is still calling to me, but you know, that whole money thing. maybe its time for a sale thread.

I never got around to picking up Cossacks 2. If you haven't given SK2 a try, I'd say get that one. You can probably find it for $10 or cheaper.

I second the recommendation for Seven Kingdoms II.

Also, I just reinstalled Conquest: Frontier Wars based on a recent post by raydude, and it's actually pretty good too.

Both games should easily be available for under $10.

Go retro... Your local compUSA should STILL have a copy of two of Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising. It's underappreciated for sure.
