So I pre-ordere 3 games today...
I had $32.46 in store credit at Gamestop so I figured I'd pre-order some games, I was expecting more coming out within the next 60 days but really there wasn't much. I put money down on Dungeon Seige 2, the upcoming Warhammer expansion, and Fable. Now, most likely I'll only get DS2 and Warhammer, I don't feel the need for Fable since I'm playing WoW and Jade Empire sucked. I was just a bit underwhelmed with my options. Are you guys pre-ordering anything for this or next month?

I'll occasionally pre-order if it gets me a discount on the release-day price or for some other benefit/gimmick.
I had money on Conker (for X-BOX) but I cancelled it last week when I picked up a few old/cheap games for my forthcoming new PC.
I'll probably be picking up both Dungeon Siege 2 and the Warhammer expansion eventually, but I'm in no hurry for them.

The Windwaker was the first (I believe) game I have preordered. And I even changed my preorder location to my Funcoland as the original Software Etc (which I am ironically working at now) was not sure if they were going to be getting the Bonus disc with it. The only other one was Halo 2 and after playing the campaign and all the cheating on Live I think that I may have to wait for some real reviews (read not paid or hyped) on H3...
Bonus items or a decent price are my only incentives. I have such a backlog of stuff now that I know that I would never get around to playing them in time for the bragging rights.
As a side note, for those of you in the GR area I work in the Software Etc at the Rivertown Mall in Grandville on the weekends if you are ever in there.

I disagree. I played them back to back and found them to be quite similar in a number of ways. There are certainly differences in tone and in emphasis, but they're both action-oriented single player RPGs with fairly similar fighting systems. That's not "nothing alike".JayG wrote:Fable's nothing like Jade Empire. Personally I prefered JE, but Fable is a decent action game. Good fun for the most part.

I've gotten discounts and freebies for preordering, plus you don't have to worry about the game being sold out. Well, except that on occasion, the store wont even get a copy of the game (usually it because I've ordered one of those niche titles like strategy or adventure games or bargin bin titles), or the game will arrive a week or three after the release date. I haven't preordered in a couple of years, though.Jeff V wrote:I don't preorder anything ever. Not only are you guaranteed to pay the highest price for the game, but the game could suck or contain crippling bugs that need to be patched out.
I can't think of a single advantage preordering has going for it.

What Jeff said. I always wait at least a week before I buy to make sure there are no showstopping bugs. I do appreciate you first-day buyers testing new product for me.Jeff V wrote:I don't preorder anything ever. I don't preorder games very much anymore, but I still preorder NCAA Football and Madden every year. No matter how good I expect them to be, it's become an annual tradition. I then follow that up by taking a 4-day weekend on the NFL's opening weekend, primarily so I can play the games a bunch and celebrate football's return. It's the little things that make me happy.
