Valve signs with EA to publish games
Saw this on VE3D just now. Turns out Valve has a publishing deal with EA now, which includes the upcoming Aftermath Expansion pack.

What EA needs is Ion Storm.Kobra wrote:God why can't EA just go out of business? Between the multiple FTC investigations, allegations if improper accounting, and their crappy arsed business methods - you'd think SOMETHING would stick.
I pray that EA dies sometime during my lifetime.
I remember in the Sega Genesis days, I was primarily a sports gamer and I wouldn't buy any game that didn't have the EA brand on it (Road Rash and Jungle Strike were the only non-sports games I played). So I guess in retrospect, this is all my fault.
So guys all I can say is I'm sorry for that whole "Ushering in the Antichrist" thing. You forgive me right?

Yeah, remember that they were formed as a counterweight to Big Publising. Eventually, the tail always wags the dog in this industry. I can remember lots of great games in those EA sleeves -- Archon, Starflight, Pinball Construction Set, Seven Cities of Gold...good stuff.Kobra wrote:You aren't the only one.. In the Heyday EA was actually a pinnacle for creativity.
Now they are just a corporate slug that leeches cash from unsuspecting gamers.

So far I havent been burned all that badly by EA...sure this latest BF2 flap is damned annoying, but Ive managed to work around it. ANd Im just not hard-core enough to see the flaws in the few sports games of their's I buy, that many say are there.
Perfect world: Id love to see Valve publish their own stuff or go with an independent. But I love Valve's work too much to deny myself their games simply b/c the big bully on the block is their publisher.
When/if the day comes that I get burned badly by EA, I might reconsider that stance, but that day ain't today.
