How many games do you play through simultaneously?
Well, not at the exact same time, but how many games do you play during the same time period? Do you plow through one game at a time and finish it, not taking time to play any other games? Or do you play one game for awhile, then switch to another?
I've been blessed with a bunch of gaming time this summer, and have found myself playing through Arc the Lad, Phantom Brave, and Star Ocean all at the same time. I might play Phantom for a bit, and switch over to Star Ocean. I might even add another RPG to the mix soon, as I have a couple old PS1 games that I just bought for cheap. I don't seem to have any trouble keeping the stories straight, which I can't say the same for any simultaneous book readings I have attempted.
So how about you guys, what do you prefer? Take on one game at a time, or do a whole bunch slowly but surely?

A bunch at a time.
However, I do stick with one game for the entire session or day as the case may be, usually 4 to 6 hours at at time. (In the case of Thief, up to 12 hours at a time).
Currently:
GTA:SA - 1st time through
Jedi Knight: DF2 which runs splendidly on my XP rig to my delight. - second time through
RtCW - second time through
Thief Gold - 1st time through the Gold version
Finally installed Vietcong--cool-looking graphics in a retro sort of way--I'm loving this game the most at the moment.
Regarding books: that's completely different. I have to stick with one single book until I'm completely through with it or I get all messed up combining plot-lines, characters, etc.

I've usually got two games actively going at any time - one more action oriented, and one slower. Of course, if a game really sucks me in, I ignore any other games. Right now, I'm actually actively playing three games. And don't forget about all of those partially played games that I'm planning to get back to "soon."
That's my purse! I don't know you!

Just one. Although when I get a new game, I'll play that, as well as an old game(EU2) that I play when I need a rest.
I haven't bought a new game in a while, so I've been catching up on good tv shows that I missed the past 5 years :-)

I also tend to game by genre. At any given time, I am playing a strategy game and a RPG, as well as some "other" type of game.
Also, the RPG of the moment is currently on console, so I don't necessarily play things with platform-specific restraints. My habits tend to vary wildly, as well -- sometimes I will be "playing" as many as 10 games at once, at other times I am only "playing" one game (World of Warcraft sucked me completely in, for example, months ago).

A whole bunch. I always have a couple of games that are permanently on my HDD and I play every now and then - Heroes of Might & Magic 3 + Ext. and recently San Andreas (which replaced Vice City). I play them whenever I feel like getting a fresh dose of something familiar. Then there are the main games that I'm currently playing (at the moment these being Silent Hill 4, Final Fantasy VII, and Guild Wars). Add to these the huge pile of console games that I haven't finished, which I play with increasing frequency lately (I'm now mostly playing Mercenaries). And finally, if there is a new and interesting demo, I'll play that (yesterday I got the demo for Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy - very, very good, you all should try it) and that amounts to quite a number. Now if only I had more free time to enjoy them...
My smile still stays on.

In one sitting - usually only 1 or 2 games. I sometimes drop a SP game to play CoH when friends come on line. If friends log off CoH - I'll often log and load up an SP game if its early in the evening.
Over a couple of weeks, the SP game will vary between 2-4 games. It depends on how much time I have to play and how much fun I'm having with a particular game.
Right now, I have a bunch of stuff installed but am playing almost nothing since I'm recently too busy with RL. I'll be really challenged to pick when I get some time.

It's like the book thread in EBG, sans the poll! We demand a poll!
Anyways I am just as tangential about my gaming as I am about reading. Right now I am playing GTA SA, Trackmania SR, GTR, RON, and FS2.
