Do you keep track of how much time you spend playing games?

Post by warning »

Since I installed Xfire I've been impressed. Not with the matchmaking or IM services. I've been impressed with the way it tracks how much time I've spent playing a particular game this week and for all time.

I'm hooked. For some reason I want to do this in all games, even when I play Might and Magic III. Does anyone else keep track of how much time you spend playing games? If so, how do you do it? Paper and pen? Xfire? Is there some other tool besides Xfire that will keep track?

I don't keep track per se. But when the dirt and debris around the house gets too high, I know it's time to take a break.

Apologies to Dirt and Debris. :)

Huh, who knew that Dirt and Debris were such stoners. Let alone mooching off of BD like that. For shame.

I only keep track because of Xfire, its kept a record of how many hours I've put into DS2 and Psychonauts in the past few weeks.
Paper and pen?
Please tell me you don't do this...

If I knew how much time I spent playing games, I would be severely disgusted with myself and become depressed. Ignorance as they say is bliss!

Many of us would be truly disturbed by how much time we spend in this forum -- and by how it crowds out computer gaming time.

I need a personal timer or stopwatch, for both personal and professional use.

+1... no, wait! I'm not going to start doing that. It's stupid. Seriously, everyone: stop doing that.

"I agree."

Though not having the pitiful statistics at my fingertips doesn't allow me to hate myself any less. In the amount of time I spent playing World of Warcraft from last September to March, I'm moderately certain I could have developed the cure for cancer.

+1. I mean, "amen to that." I don't start a game unless I have at least a couple of hours free...whereas I can pop onto the forums for "a few minutes" at any time.

I would but that would actually take time from playing games.

No. I don't pay attention to the time when I'm having fun.

Yeah I like its time tracking - I wish they could add in a way (would be relatively simple) of custom adding games rather than waiting for the devs to add them.

It's great advantage is being able to hook up with friends when you see them in game however.

They're steadily improving it - now has a grouping option, a simple voice chat ability and a group chat option - still not at MSN levels but suffices and on my game machine it tends to be the app that is always running.
