CD RW Not Reading Cd's

Alrighty...I think this CDRW is broken, but maybe someone here knows something I don't.

I just bought a new computer, an IBUYPOWER.COM machine, and the CDRW,
is now not reading any CD's.. It is still on the Hardware screen and the power
is still getting to it, as the Tray opens and closes.

Windows XP is my operating system, and I have tried uninstalling the hardware and rebooting, but that does not solve the problem.

I have not opened the case yet, but as I have not moved the machine in 6 months and the CDRW was working fine after that move I have no Idea why it would be broken so quickly(the machine is only 6 months old).

Any ideas to try anything?

Sounds broken to me. Before you return it or buy a new one I'd open the case, completely remove the drive. Dust it off, especially the connectors and reinstall the drive.

But I'm not optimistic.
