Which F/A-22 Raptor sim is best for realism? Which is best for casual fun?

Total Air War

A good mix of realism and fun.

Come to think of it, I'd concur. The Novalogic sims are too... arcady.

Agreed, but all of those are getting pretty long in the tooth. Are you stuck on the Raptor or are you open to other jet sims?

An acquaintance works on the Raptor, so I was wondering about that one in particular.

Nevertheless, which other jet sims do you like, geezer?

Yup, Total Air War is still the best F-22 sim around. The sweet AWACS section is icing on the cake. <sigh> I sure do miss D.I.D., EF2000 is still one of my favorite jet sims.

Lock On: Modern Air Combat is getting some time right now. I bought Falcon 4.0 from JSHAW awhile back, but haven't had time to even install it, nevermind actually LEARN it.

I don't recall if Janes USAF had an F22, but that was a pretty nice "Survey" type sim. Then again, that's even older than TAW IIRC.

I probably shouldn't have been quite so dismissive of TAW actually -- it IS older, but it probably held up quite well.

Dude, how many good "new" sims are out there? Right now the "old" sims are all we god. Why do you think there are so many good maps/mods/TCs for older sims like Falcon 4.0, EAW, and Red Baron 3D. Yeah, TAW is older in computer gaming terms, but it holds up VERY well indeed.

:) No offense intended -- did you design TAW or something? :)

Nah, sorry, just bitter about the state of the flight sim genre these days.

It's funny you mention MMO sims. I just got into Aces High and am having a blast.

Its fun for a bit, but the landgrab models basically the same since SVGA Air Warrior which I played back in 91 until its demise.

Check my homepage out if you're interested in MMO Sims :)

I couldn't get it to run on my XP machine.
