Xmen Legends

Post by Dirt »

I almost never buy games for full price. But this one looks really fun as a beat 'em up. Is it like Hunter Wayward? Anyone have impressions?

I looove this game. It's kind of like Hunter, but more like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, since your characters have stats and skills that you increase. Also has a smallish selection of Diablo-style items.

I just finished Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance... I hope X-Men Legends is a bit better than that.

I hope to get X-Men Legends next week or thereabouts.

My favorite Xbox game I've bought this year, and would be my favorite console game this year if I hadn't picked up Shadow Hearts Covenant.

It's fun, and the levels are different enough where there's a lot less repetetive slogging than in some of the BGDA series of games.

I'm a sucker for action-rpgs and the cast of characters and range of abilities in this one make it sound like lots of fun. I'm really looking forward to it.

I got a chance to try this one out at a friends place and was somewhat impressed, but not so much that I can't wait for it to hit the 30 dollar sales.

I am curious about one thing:

If you have multiple X-boxes can you play multiplayer with each player having their own screen so people can split up?

No, it doesn't let you do anything like that CeeKay.

I had a lot of fun with this game, but found it to eventually be a bit too hard to keep up with when you have 4 players going at once. It's better as a single-player experience overall. If you really want to go at the multiplayer, I'd suggest only two players. 3 or 4 really messes with the game in some fundamental way that I really just can't describe.

We did 4 players, and that's why I was curious. I forgot to look at the manual before I left so I wasn't sure. It really sucks that someone can be left off screen- it lead to a few deaths.

Finished it several hours ago. While certain things annoyed me, like the way it forces you to use certain characters to bypass obstacles, I would regard as the best game of its type. That type being the console action-RPG genre, alongside games like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance or Champions of Norrath. The beat 'em up esque combat really made it a lot more entertaining for me, and they nailed most of the characters powers. Though I pretty much stuck with Cyclops, Wolverine, Colossus and Beast for as much as I could.

It's a much longer game than other similar games that I've played too. I finished it in about 20 hours, and that's skipping all the danger room stuff. Whereas BG:DA took me 10 or less, IIRC.
End of line.

Hooray, I finished the game!

I got all the danger room discs, too, and did all but the very last one (Challenge: Legends).

Non-spoilerish advice for anyone who wants to do this disc: When you get it, backtrack back to the last save point and play it. You will not get a chance to play it if you move to the next (last) room, which is completely retarded.
