Beware Used games that have CD keys

Post by LordMortis »

Grumble Grumble. I picked up Lords of the Realm III used and never installed it. I try tonight and it needs a CD key, which they conveniently did not include. I guess I can be glad I only $3 for it.

Other than trying to Google it I wouldn't have a clue where to look up one of those sites. My first response would be a real nice email to the publisher. Then I'd be trying Google.

The publisher is going to tell you to go and pound salt for buying a used game.

Where did you buy the game? If it was from EB they're good about letting you take it back if it's missing the key, assuming you still have the receipt.

If I owned the game I'd give you mine as I never play online anyway.I guess it would still work that way.
I have no.2 but that's not going to help you much.

edit tp add:No,I'm not soliciting for people to ask me for cd keys.Wouldn't be prudent.

i purchased Massive Assault used and found out it needed a key to play online (only the disc was included) - i emailed the developers, explaining that i bought a used game without the key and they sent me one right away. pretty cool of them.
