Visual Studio.net issue

I don't know how many people here use VS.net. My boss has 2003 installed on his computer, and it is as uptodate as it can be. He wants to make an ad-in project for something. He's following the steps to make this specific project (a built in tidy HTML for asp.net projects). He says he has to start a new project and then:

other projects --> extensibility projects --> Visualstudio.net Add-in

This should start the add-in wizard. It does on my version of VS.net, which is olrder.

On his, it does not. The cursor briefly does the hourglass thing, the screen flickers, and nothing happens. Does anyone have any idea why this would be?

Because it's X-mas Eve and the computer wants some time off?

Sorry, that's all I've got.

He might be missing some SDKs or have the wrong version. Otherwise, I'm not sure. Run the VS.NET installer - it has a pretty decent add/remove components thing. Check your event log.

He probably installed/uninstalled some other add-ins. Some of those (notoriously ReSharper) damage the VS.NET installation. He should do a repair installation from the VS.NET CD-ROM.

He repaired his install first thing (when it didn't work), and then I believe checked the add-on components and didn't see anything else to install (or worth installing? He may have missed something). I was only stopping in to pick something up, and I won't be back at work until next Tuesday. For all I know, the problem resolved itself. Or our office is a smoldering ruin. ;)

It was strange though. He was running the most up-to-date versio he could. And it's really weird that it worked find in 2001 (my version).
