Can I put DDR memory in a SDRAM computer?

I'm going to install more memory in my father's computer--his pc is an older one (4-6 years old??), and I think it requires normal SDRAM. Most memory modules today are DDR--will those work in a motherboard that was made during the SDRAM days? Thanks to any who can help.

Probably not.

Most of the DDR modules I've seen have different notches than in SDRAM, so if this holds true, the DDR modules you want to use probably won't even fit in the SDRAM slots in your fathers motherboard.

You can't force them in, they either WILL or WON'T fit.

As the other guy said, the notches are different.

You can still find SDRAM DIMMs. They just cost more.
