Fedora Core 3 and Suse Pro 9.2 - SATA

Post by godhugh »

Does anyone know if either of these support SATA HD's natively? I was reading up on Slackware and noticed that to get SATA drives to work you needed to re-compile a new kernel to get that support. I'm hoping to avoid doing that, so I'd like to know if these two distro's include the support.

I haven't installed Fedora Core 3 yet, but I have SuSE 9.2 Pro running at home without any problem on a SATA drive. I didn't have to recompile any kernels or anything. There was a setting I had to add to the boot options at install to get it to work right, but that was it.

I don't remember the setting, but it had something to do with the APIC. I can check when I get home and report back later.

And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue

But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range
