Printer icon not appearing in systray

My wife is saying that since she got her new work computer, that the printer icon isn't showing up in the systray when she submits a job. I've been through all of the settings I can find and cannot locate the setting that controls this. Anyone know where I can re-enable it?
I had her turn off hiding inactive icons.
I checked TweakUI's settings, and that's not an option.

Is spooling even turned on?

You failed to indicate whether or not the printer is actually printing. If it's printing then it could be that the new system is spooling so fast it doesn't ever get the icon up there.

Yes, the documents are printing.
It is a network printer. Spooling would have to be on right? I'll double check her settings on that.
I read a discussion about this on a technical forum today, but most of those were for icons that were just disappearing when they should be there constantly (like the volume icon).
