I own an I8600 (from before they ganked the serial port/track-stick nubbin) and *LOVE* it.

Wow. I wish I'd known about this before I ordered that 20" flat panel monitor from them. There's no way for me to justify buying both. Nor extra money, for that matter.

I'll post a warning that I have heard that some people are having their orders cancelled because of lack of parts. So your mileage may vary.

From what I understand, Dell is yanking certain models from the coupon or from the site entirely once parts run scarce. I believe it is down to two models now (one being the desktop replacement with the 9800).

I decided to get a new laptop (and will sell mine on eBay). Got an inspiron 8600 with a 1.6mhz pentium m, 512 meg ram, wsxga+ screen, 60gb hard drive, dvd/cdrw, and a 128 meg radeon 9600 pro turbo.

My Inspiron 8600 shipped today! I am very excited as this is my first laptop and I've been wanting to pick one up for a couple years now. And since I'm already set up with a WLAN at home I'll be set to go.

1.6Mhz Pentium M, 1 GB RAM, 60GB HD, WUSXGA+ screen, 128 meg Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo, b/g wireless board
