WW secret forums idea
Ok this is pretty much to the WW players here....is this feasible?
We all know that having forums has a bad guys is A HUGE tool to have...and it's come close to happening each game. So is it possible for someone to set up a forum central (IE Austin). And then Austin create a forum and gives the keys over to the moderator who will then let the bad guys in?
I am bringing this up because should I be a vamp at some point in the future and am paired up with other vamps....what happens if none of us are able to create these little ole forums.
I think it would simply be a good idea.
I am not sure what goes into setting these things up...so am not sure if it's feasible or not. Just tossing the idea out there.

It's easy to do. If Lassr wants one before the game starts I can set it up and make him the admin from the start and allow him to change the password, although I wouldn't look anyway.Newcastle wrote:is it easy or hard to do? I am not sure what goes into setting these things up. So hence am asking. I dont want it to be a drag on folks...but if it is easy to do (timewise) and easy to get teh moderators up and running...then might be something to think bout.

I know you wouldnt look...i actually trust you quite a bit in that matter...a lot of us play with spoilers once we are out of the game...hence i think there is a lot of trust built up between the regulars to keep the spirit of the game intact.Austin wrote:It's easy to do. I was wondering if it was easy...numero uno...(i guess security wise...new forum name...etc)....and numero 2 if it was not a burden...
it's just an idea i was wondering about.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. I can create forum and just set Lassr's email and info at the creation on his own subdomain. I'll set the forum to private, hand him the keys and he can just change the password. I'm not sure I could get in but I could still kill the forum if I felt like it.Newcastle wrote:I know you wouldnt look...i actually trust you quite a bit in that matter...a lot of us play with spoilers once we are out of the game...hence i think there is a lot of trust built up between the regulars to keep the spirit of the game intact.Austin wrote:It's easy to do. I used
(edited out)
to set one up during the Monty Python game. It wasn't too complicated.
Austin, I believe you set up access for your partners when you have a forum. I couldn't figure out a way to do that with mine, I had to have my partners register then I approved their joining.

Well I'm good either way. If you want to recommend people use your link; cool... if you want me to set one up on a domain somewhere, Lassr fire me your email.Lassr wrote:I used

Edit I don't see a problem with users registering and getting approved. It's a quick step.

There was a concern raised about other players finding the secret forum, that's why you see the links deleted above.
So after some digging I think it's safe to post it again.
In the future if someone wants to create a game forum to discuss strategy I use freeforums.org. Easy to set up a forum.
Once it is set up you will want to set New Member registration to Admin.
Button at bottom of forum "Go to Adminstration Panel"
Go under General Admin and choose configuration. Then set Enable Account activation to Admin.
Then after you have set up your forum name under Forum Admin/ management you go to Forum Admin/Permissions. Select the forum you just created and set View - Read - Post - Reply categories to REG. The only people who have registered through the Admin can see the forum.
Also make sure you do not register under your OO name because that can be seen in the member list. Use your character name in the game is recommended.
That makes it very safe from potential cheaters.

Yes, there was no concern about Austin.Austin wrote:To be clear, Lassr sent me a PM requesting I edit out the link from his post I was quoting.
He's a nice guy for a sneaky bastard...kidding!

I just asked him to delete the forum link he quoted until I could be sure of the security of the forum that was raised by someone else.
